Break Barrel Chronograph Day, or perhaps more accurately radar day.

@Scriv the only thing that I’ve seen so far that you’ve done wrong is that you haven’t introduced it to the business end of a sledgehammer, j.k. 😉, I just wanted to make you laugh 🤣😂👍.
From what I’ve seen, it looks like he already introduced it to the business end of a sledgehammer, :ROFLMAO::LOL:(y)

Sledge hammer is in the shed, behind the big tool box. So, I found something else to use. It seems fitting that a single action 44 special do the honors. End of life celebration as it were.752.webp753.webp

That does suck. I’m guessing that it is outside of the warranty period or they wouldn’t be charging you. I just looked at the the internals of the big orange Labradar unit, I’m assuming that’s what you’re discussing? I’m surprised they jumped on the antenna right away, unless it’s the more common issue. There’s 4 or 5 sub-assemblies that could have come loose. It might be an easy fix, rather than paying them $200 to look at it. I’d refrain from powering it on if there are loose parts.

Or the Athlon! It seems really good as well, and I bet a better warranty?

I purchased the Athlon Radar Chronograph and have loved it's simplicity ever since. It sets right on the shooting table next to my rifle, attached via Bluetooth and gives me all to information my heart could desire. I just keep the information in a file for each of my guns . . . sorta like a medical chart for guns. Orv.

Just a heads‑up—Athlon’s chronograph doesn’t have the lifetime warranty their scopes do. The chrono is treated as an electronic device, so it only gets a 1‑year warranty. Labradar generally offers longer support on their units.

If something fails in year 3:

  • Athlon → you’re buying a new chrono
  • Labradar → they’ll usually repair it, often cheaply, sometimes even goodwill it

Glad that your happy with your choice. Athlon, and Garmin seem to be setting the standard for radar going forward. Even the new lab radar lx requires the microphone for activation. Makes set up at the range that much more of a hassle. So glad to be done with that.

Just to clear this up for anyone following along: the Labradar LX and the original Labradar do not require the external mic for every gun. The mic is only for guns that don’t produce enough muzzle blast to trigger the radar—mainly small‑bore PCPs, low‑power airguns, rimfire, and some suppressed rifles. Big‑bores and anything with normal muzzle blast don’t need it at all.

Labradar states this directly on their Low Noise Trigger page:“The Low Noise Trigger is used for guns that do not discharge sufficient muzzle blast to trigger the radar. This adapter should only be used on Air Guns, Rimfire cartridges that have little or no muzzle blast, and some suppressors.”

That’s one thing I like about my Garmin. It is placed behind the muzzle and so hopefully safe from me and my haphazard technique lol. I used a KC with sky screens for for years to tune my bows and I’m shocked that I never arrowed it lol. I have shot thousands of slugs and pellets over the Garmin and it has only failed to register one or two shots. The battery could last longer and I wish the backlighting was brighter, but I’m sure it’s limited to save the battery.

Nice. I'm excited to get after it when it arrives. I saw a podcast where a gent from Hornady was interviewing two guys from Garmin that developed the product. I was impressed with their ethic, and enthusiasm for the product.
