You did notice that your fpe calculations are way off right? 8.64gr at 766fps is 11.26fpe not 6.6fpe, the others are off too, I just recognized this one as wrong from my shooting of it.

You know, I was thinking that looked weird, but I was jotting down what the machine spit out. Possible I wrote it down wrong. I had so much other crap going on it's hard to tell. Thanks for bringing it up.

Actually, I think that they are all wrong. I wonder if I grabbed the wrong data somewhere, or this was just the beginning of something going awry.

I was communicating with the manufacturer I believe, as I used the customer service email listed on their website. Disappointing to have only been able to use it for an hour or two before it fell apart.

Yeah, it wasn't. Unless they did it during shipping, but it wasn't clunking when it was set up, was when we took it down. I find it hard to believe that it waited that long to start acting up.

Well, to their credit, they did offer to sell me a new one for more than a new Garmin.

That does suck. I’m guessing that it is outside of the warranty period or they wouldn’t be charging you. I just looked at the the internals of the big orange Labradar unit, I’m assuming that’s what you’re discussing? I’m surprised they jumped on the antenna right away, unless it’s the more common issue. There’s 4 or 5 sub-assemblies that could have come loose. It might be an easy fix, rather than paying them $200 to look at it. I’d refrain from powering it on if there are loose parts.

It's been handled with kid gloves since day one. I can hear a large object flopping around in there when you turn it as well as something that sounds like small screws. I powered it on only because they asked for system identification and I had to get that. I just don't have a warm fuzzy about buying another one of their products.

I thought about that too. It's not like I have to worry about breaking it. Trying to decide if I've just had enough frustration already. Sometimes it's therapeutic to just toss it in the can.

I was a Chief Aviation Electronics tech in the Navy for 13 years before I became a flyer and had an FCC Ham license for 20+ years (KB2CBF and N6PCT). If you’re considering abandoning it and don’t want to tackle it yourself. I’m just offering a friendly alternative. I won’t be offended if you decline. My offer is to open and inspect it and remedy any obvious issues such as loose connectors etc.. You pay the shipping both ways, nothing else. I’d be Leary of taking a stranger up on something like this, but I’ve actually helped some members of the forums and been helped by one. I’m just offering to “pay it forward”. When I was a tech half of our issues were fixed with a reseat of a board or connector.
