Following-up on the recent Hard Air Magazine review of the UTG Goliath bipod, we have some additional information that will be of interest to HAM readers.
Firstly, Leapers has produced an informative video about the product. This is well-produced and gives a full description of the product and it’s capabilities in less than four minutes running time. It’s worth watching…
Secondly, there’s a solution to about the only negative we reported in our review of the Goliath. That’s the potential for snagging on the pan and tilt locking levers in their vertical positions.
Here’s how we had them positioned in our review…
But the news is that the locking levers do not need to be positioned as shown.
In fact, the pan and tilt levers are multi-configurable, so you can adjust the tension as well as the “tightened” position. So they can be set to much more “snag friendly” angles, if required.
All you do is loosen the cap on the lever with a Torx wrench, pop it off, and reposition. Like this…
Having removed the cap, it’s clear that the locking levers are a simple push fit on to a nut. Simply pull the lever off…
… then drop it back down in a different position.
Test in the open and locked positions and – when you’re happy with the results – drop the cover back on. Leapers recommends setting around the 8 o’clock position rather than the levers tightening at the 6 o’clock, to avoid snag.
Repeat with the second locking lever. Done!
In fact, Leapers includes the necessary T15 Torx wrench right in with the bipod. The recommended torque value is 15 In-Lbs.
