Rear cocking anything, is unacceptable to me, because there are other, better to me choices. Is a rear lever acceptable for you or is it a necessity for it to be midway?
It's a personal preference. There’s a reason “rear cockers” are in the minority, no matter how well they shoot, there are others with proper ergos that shoot as well or better.
Totally agree that its a personal preference… That said, most will be by passing rear cockers. For me, personally, they’re simply not in the running. This all said while “highly“ respecting your insights and wealth of experience and knowledge. It's a personal preference.
I've shot many tens of thousands of shots with rear cocking guns, many many dead pests and many high placings in ft matches, and again, FOR ME, non-issue.
If somebody feels it's a problem for them, the easy button is to not buy a rear cocking gun.
There are practical reasons some will not consider rear cockers. I bet you could think of a few of those reasons. In “theory“ you can make two identical guns in performance. One a rear cocker, the second a lever where it should be (line of sight). In “practice“ which would sell more? I believe the market has spoken on the bullpup-cocking-lever-positions. The majority of those in the market for a bullpup are bypassing them also. Don’t misconstrued the above as bashing rear cockers. There’s are ergonomic reasons at play too.For gaming scenario, no issue at all. For plinking also, I am used to my Cricket and very comfortable.
But, it may be uncomfortable to someone who is on bench and doesn't want to take eye off the scope in between shots. More of a preference issue than practical leverage.
Warm regards
Probably doesn't seem that way to some because they're always out bring used verse getting posts like these on the internet "how do I fix my veteran leaking" or "how come my veteran always hits first shot every time" lololWhat's wild to consider is that the original (rear-cocking) Veteran has never had any trouble selling.
I know of three past or present retailers of the original Vets, and all of their websites have cycled through "in-stock" "out of stock" status's for the last 6 years. Lots and lots and lots of Veterans sold. And even in the past couple weeks, watching inventory counts on the two retailers still selling them, the last few OG Veterans are still moving.
I prever a left placing and if posible just BEFORE the trigger. Is a rear lever acceptable for you or is it a necessity for it to be midway?
