Gentlemen, what are your thoughts for a moderator for the 250Z? I've just pulled the trigger and ordered the rifle straight from Barra. I know there are a wide variety that will work but I am trying not to break the bank.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

P.S. It is the .22 cal.

I just bought a 250z in .22 about three weeks ago. Inspected the bore with a scope and it was nearly flawless. Still, I polished the bore to make it even smoother. With pellets, my rifle is shooting 50yd 5-shot groups that run from 3/8" - 5/8" routinely (home range)!

I put an STO Falx (high flow) on my rifle and it is very quiet.

Good luck, hope ya get a good barrel/bore.

Did you 'preorder' the rifle? I don't see any showing as available from Barra directly.

Barra was showing shipping date for preorders to be 1/31. I see that they changed the preorder date to 2/11 now. Hope the rifles make it in by the new 2/11 date???

Pyramyd got a handful of 250z .22 in yesterday. I checked and the current 11% code (GETEM) works on the rifle in the cart. Brings the price down to $463. Still $23 dollars higher than what Midway sells it for but not a bad price considering all vendors that sell the 250z.

If you preordered from Barra you might want to buy one now from PA and cancel the preorder. Just an option that might get a rifle faster in case the preorder rifles don't show up on time.

The clear winner for me was the 0dB110 for .22. I did not over size this moderator and it works better than anything else I tried. I only shoot slugs and have had no clipping at all. Pellets tend to clip more than slugs, in my limited experience with them, ymmv. Using the .22 0dB was not planned by me at all. I happened to borrow one while shooting with someone else and was blown away by how much better it was. I would have normally never shot the same size moderator as the caliber. Kind of like how I would never have tried a .216 K.O. slug in my barrel, and yet on Dairyboy's recommendation, I did, and it shoots awesome. That's the 20.83gr slug version, only Treniers seems to be selling them now.

Hey man welcome to the forum! Heartland America out of Kansas makes a decent mod I just received. Just don't get the mini version as it's too small to quiet the bark of the 250z. Go for the full length version. It's a very well made moderator for about 65 bucks.

Buck rail is what I had until I got a Heartland Air moderator. Slightly more expensive than a Buck Rail but it’s smaller, carbon fiber wrapped and just as quiet as a $150 a DonnyFl.

Also the .30 cal version on my EQ doesn’t change the POI at all. I set the zero without the mod and then screwed it on and it was perfect.

In the past, I always had good luck with a Huma Mod40 (original design with Kevlar inserts, not the avalanche bs). Definitely heavier than the heartland moderator so there may be some barrel droop. But in your case, there is no shroud I’d opt for a Mod50 if you can find one. If you can’t find one let me know and I’ll make a phone call if you’re interested. I know someone hoarding a lot of these and they’re brand new 👍

Heartland moderators so far have some pretty good reviews! Love the fact that it’s made here in the good ole 🇺🇸

Br modular. That's what is on mine currently. Works very well. I do plan on trying a couple more eventually. If I could get one a bit toned lower, with the same effectiveness, that would be my number one.
That's where I was at with my FX DRS Classic. That air tube gives off an odd sound. The only one I have that cured it was the Weihrauch XL. I have heard the Huma air 40's are effective as well, but I don't have one. I put the Ronin on and it still had an odd sound.

You think the Ronin would work well on the FX DRS rifle. Especially at the price.

What's a recommendation for the Macavity 2 in .30? I know the factory one is just a hollow tube. Don't wanna break the bank either.
I've got a 25 cal MA2 and it is so loud. Even the 22 MA2 I have is a beast to quiet down. Right now I'm using a Skout Whisper on the 25 caliber that I took off my Karma SLS 25 that does a good job getting the tone down to an acceptable level. The MA2 rifles are the hardest to moderate in my collection.

Hey man welcome to the forum! Heartland mods are made and shipped from Kansas so I get them in a few days which is great. I just got in the smaller one he sells and it's so tiny. I should have ordered the full length mod for 65 bucks as the small one is very well made just not quiet enough for my 25 caliber guns.
