BCSA (Binghamton, NY) - July 11th, 2026 Match Report
Broome County Sportsmens Association (BCSA) Field Target Match Report
Well, another match is behind us! The weather forecast for this match was calling for low 80’s also with an added break to the humidity! That part they nailed….the forecasts leading up to match day, not so much! We did not have the canopy tops up this time around due to threats of severe thunderstorms in the area Friday night. Those didn’t materialize and the canopies would have been a welcomed addition for the sunny skies we had.
We had 19 people on hand for this match. This included new to our range shooters from far and wide!! The Colonial Airgunners Club sent 3 representatives in the form of Jim Wheeler, Dave Ferro and John Hauser! NOA sent our favorite Uncle Ted and Rockville Fish and Game sent Pete Sweeney! Ok, their clubs didn’t send them, but they all decided it was a good time to visit BCSA for the first time and we welcome that! By some of the after match responses that we heard, it sounds like the trips were worth it.
Sight-in:

The course of fire for the rifle match was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane, 2 shots per target, with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. The stats for the 60 shot course are as follows:
The breakdown for the percentage of targets based on difficulty was:

The wind was pretty light to non-existent and the skies were bright to partly cloudy for the match. Temps stayed in the 70’s for the majority of the match. As usual, there were targets in light unprotected areas and targets in dark protected areas along with everything in between! No issues and the match went off without a hitch! John Hauser (Unlimited) took top score honors with a 49. Following close behind that was Doug Rogers (Hunter PCP) with a 48. Karen Reis and Pete Sweeney (WFTF PCP) were next up with a 45’s then Jim Wheeler (Hunter PCP) with a 44, The rest of us fell in line behind the leaders and our scores can be seen below.
After the conclusion of the rifle match, while the scores were tallied, everyone jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets and pull the strings for the pistol match. As always, Thank You All, the help is greatly appreciated!
This time around we had 4 competitors for the pistol match. There was a cold line or 2 called due to the reset string getting caught on the target bolt which were quickly remedied.
When the dust settled, Nathan ended up with the win with a score of 34. Rick was second with a 20 and Bill and Louis pulled out their 12 fpe Benjamin carbines to stretch their legs.
After a quick cleanup….the day was a wrap!
Thanks to everyone near and far that came out to support our club! Hope to see you back again sometime!
