BCSA (Binghamton, NY) - August 29th, 2026 Match Report
Broome County Sportsmens Association (BCSA) Field Target Match Report
Well, another match is behind us at BCSA! The ride to the range was again pretty foggy for most everyone. The weather for match was, we had clear skies, low humidity and wind that was near nothing to just the peskiest of little gusts that made you second guess your hold. The temps ranged from the low 50’s to the low 70’s.
We had 10 people on hand for this match. This included a first time visit from Fred Young who is out making the rounds of some of the areas FT ranges and...for the second time…Angelo Rodriguez aka AJ !! This time around AJ decided to participate in both the rifle and pistol match with his 0.177 Pinty Buster pistol…yep, you read that correct!!
Sight-in:
The course of fire for the rifle match was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane, 2 shots per target, with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. The stats for the 60 shot course are as follows:
The breakdown for the percentage of targets based on difficulty was:
As stated above, the wind was almost nothing to some little pesky gusts during the match. There were targets in bright unprotected areas and targets in dark protected areas along with everything in between! There were no cold lines and everything flowed along without issue.
Doug Rogers and Brian Wagner (Hunter Piston) shared top score honors for the day with 43s. Following close behind them was Rich Sarama (Hunter PCP) with a 42. Paul Manktelow (Hunter PCP) was just behind the leaders with a 41. The rest of us fell in line behind the leaders and our scores can be seen below.
As always, after the conclusion of the rifle match, while the scores were tallied, everyone jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets and pull the strings for the Pistol/Practice match. Thank You All, the help is greatly appreciated!
This time around we had 5 competitors for the Pistol match and 2 of us practicing our positionals with our FT rifles. Again, no cold lines! There were 10 lanes of 2 targets per lane with 1 of those lanes being a standing lane.
The stats for the 40 shot course are as follows:
When the dust settled, Brian Wagner ended up with the win with a score of 35. Fred Young was second with a 28. The rest fell in line behind the leaders
After the match and a quick cleanup….the day was a wrap!
