BCSA (Binghamton, NY) - August 1st, 2026 Match Report

Broome County Sportsmens Association (BCSA) Field Target Match Report

Well, another match down and a weird weather day at best! The ride to the range was pretty foggy for most everyone but the sun was shining at the range. Throughout the match, we had clear skies to overcast with little to no wind. The humidity increased as the day went on and the temps ranged from the mid 60’s to the upper 70’s

We had 14 people on hand for this match. This included new to our range and first time AAFTA style field target shooter Angelo Rodriguez aka AJ !! By some of the during and after match comments that were overheard, it sounds like the trip was well worth it…and he might be in the market for a 0.177! Welcome aboard AJ!

The course of fire for the rifle match was 10 lanes with 3 targets per lane, 2 shots per target, with the shooting order being left, middle, right. There was also the usual 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. The stats for the 60 shot course are as follows:

The breakdown for the percentage of targets based on difficulty was:

As stated above, the wind was pretty light to non-existent and the skies were bright to overcast for the match. As usual, there were targets in light unprotected areas and targets in dark protected areas along with everything in between! Some targets were unseen by the naked eye as to what they were (IE the new little bird target that was added to the rotation)…but were clearly visible through the scope. There were 3 cold lines called. First was to verify a target which turned out to be a split. The second was for a caught string and the third was for a broken string. All issues were remedied quickly!

Doug Rogers (Hunter PCP) took top score honors for the day with a 53. Following close behind him was Nic Gregoris (WFTF PCP) with a 52. Paul Manktelow (Hunter PCP) was just behind the leaders with a 49. The rest of us fell in line behind the leaders and our scores can be seen below.

After the conclusion of the rifle match, while the scores were tallied, everyone jumped in and helped pick up and pack away the rifle targets and pull the strings for the High Power match. As always, Thank You All, the help is greatly appreciated!

This time around we had 6 competitors for the High Power match. No cold lines and the match went off without a hitch! There were 6 lanes, 5 of which had 4 targets and were shot from the seated position and 1 standing lane that had 2 targets which were shot off shooting sticks.

When the dust settled, Brian ended up with the win with a score of 40. Trevor was second with a 33. The rest fell in line behind the leaders

After the match and a quick cleanup….the day was a wrap!

Thanks to everyone near and far that came out to support our club! Hope to see you back again sometime!
