Air Venturi MicroStrike interchangeable barrels are now available for pre-order on the Pyramyd website.
OK, I admit it! I very much like compact, easy-to-shoot, carbine-style airguns like the MicroStrike. As an unashamed plinker, they are ideal for the sort of airgun shooting I really enjoy.
In particular, compact PCPs really appeal to me for backyard can-popping and similar low-stress, high-fun types of close range shooting. They’re also an ideal way to share the fun of airgun shooting with family and friends. The small size, light weight and relatively low power also aid with this.
The Microstrike itself is available in three calibers (.177, .22 and .25). However Air Venturi has also announced interchangeable barrel kits for the gun.
Well, in fact, it’s probably better to say that these are actually “caliber change kits” as they comprise a barrel assembly, bolt and magazine of the matching caliber. There’s one kit for each caliber, so you can change calibers at will, whatever Microstrike you originally purchase.
Somehow I have a feeling that the Microstrike will be extremely popular in .177 caliber. With an estimated 30 shots per fill in the small caliber, low ammo costs and a quiet report, that would make it an ideal low-cost plinker and pest-control airgun. Squirrels beware!
In addition to Air Venturi MicroStrike interchangeable barrels, the company also has multi-packs of magazines available in all three calibers. These are the same magazines as are used for the Air Venturi Avenger.
That’s a very sensible re-use of standard parts that gives big benefits to the owner.
The MicroStrike itself will be selling for $399.99. The caliber change kits are $79.99 each and two-packs of mags come-in at $19.99.
