Given the roll Snowpeak has been on the last few years, other than bonded moderator, it is probably their next winning flavor of the month. Pp750/Notos, M60b/Zelos, Max1 they have been hitting on all cylinders.

The bonded moderator is a huge deal, on principal, if nothing else. I just saw that there is a video on YT of someone in another country playing with their new Alpha that doesn't have a bonded moderator. Which means they are being produced that way if the distributors order them that way. Now, Air Venturi (Pyramyd Air), ordered the MicroStrike which has a removeable moderator, so we know they can get airguns from SPA (the OEM) with or without a bonded moderator. Which means that it was simply a choice to order the gun that way. Simply choose not to buy it. They did the same thing with the Umarex Reign, which was not a cheap value buy either. Then again with the Notos. Everyone around here just keeps shrugging their shoulders and removing the units instead of just taking a stand and saying, "NO, don't sell us the airguns that way." I would not be willing to believe that it was a cost cutting move either. The Microstrike only cost $130 more, and for that money you are not only getting a removeable moderator but also a 300bar fill, externally adjustable regulator and hammersring, and trigger, and system modularity to change calibers. WHAT A STEAL all that stuff is! No, I am guessing that since it's a cheaper airgun, just cheap enough, that they don't want to spend their time figuring out where in the country they can and can't ship it. It's to save themselves time and aggravation, not us money, all though it will look like that to some people. Too bad, that's the price of doing business. The other price is when people do just decide not to buy. It will happen at some point.

Moderators for airguns are legal for most of the country, especially the parts that shoot and actually buy them.
Having moderators removeable aids in cleaning, checking barrel crowns, or for baffle strikes.
Removing your moderator can make your gun easier to use or to travel with.
Having moderator options let you decide if you want ultimate quiet or compactness.
My gun my choice, my money my choice, where and when to spend it, and it ain't on a bonded moderated airgun.
Choose the way you want to see things go, not how, or just where, they are now.

After thinking about your post, I would guess that it’s simply product differentiation. It’s done all the time in product manufacturing and distribution. The two rifles are probably similar in manufacturing cost and so they intentionally cripple one product so that they can have two price points. I just hope people are able to tune a little more accuracy out of the Microstrike.

Personally I find the whole U.S. airgun industry a little bewildering. YouTubers stating that the 250z is not based upon a SnowPeak product, when it absolutely is. Airgun retailers/distributors posting videos that seem to imply that they’re not directly connected to the product they’re reviewing. Surely, if your company contracts an OEM manufacturer to put your name on a gun that you’re importing from them, you would know whether or not the moderator is bonded directly to the barrel or shroud? That’s just a few examples.

Well, I'm not gonna say I'm gonna get one. But I do like its looks. I'm holding out for a .30 caliber, not another .22 or even .25.

I’m not sure they have enough power for the .30. I would think they’d be launching 45gr at sub 750fps. I might be wrong, that’s just a guess on my part.

It looked to me, and this is just my impresssion on the situation because corporate never says, that they were getting scared, because I believe that was around the same time that DonnyFL was having problems with a three letter agency, so they went bonded. The importers choose what they're importing, always. Bad choice.

I agree, that’s same agency implies that ‘integral” is important to them.

Ohh, no, not one of these. Ive got my heart set more along the lines of 900fps or so .30 cal. But I do like the looks of this one. Wonder if the regulator in it is adjustable? The bonded dust catcher don't bother me in the least. But I have way to many .22's for sure.

I read somewhere about all the exclusivity agreements of the importers, everything gets tied up to just a few. It's how they get their foot in the door, they're just never really allowed to step on through.

I'm just gonna get a Macavity .30. Bite the bullet. It will be more than enough for what I use them for. Coyotes, Possums, skunks and dillos. I've been wanting the .30 long enough and out the jump off.
