100 yard BR, FX Panthera .22cal, 40gr H&N Slug. One of my better bulls, bipod and rear shooting bag. 10 bulls on the card, dropped 25 points out of 500 possible.

Depending on the manufacturers expectations of market share, if they elect not to make a product line accepting slugs with new barrels, twist rates and all required mods to successfully shoot slugs at any distance, their market share will shrink dramatically in the future. Look how springers deminished as the PCP design took off.

If limiting RMAC, EBR and other major matches to pellets in BR, current manufacturers/sponsors are trying to keep their present inventories realivant. Not many major air rifle manufacturers offer "Slug" specific lines.

The CNC Altaros slugs are enabling some brands to be successful with their pellet designed equipment. At twice the price, or more, the Altaros are an option. That CNC slug is what beat me by 2 points; shooting through an English produced brand.

Was my opponent shooting on a one piece rest while I shot off a bipod and rear squeeze bag; I don't remember. How many variables were contributing to the final scores? I enjoy shooting pellets but we did shoot at 860fps and now that same pellet is at 970+fps through a slug twist rated barrel.

We are all seeking the highest accuracy and flatest trajectory possible. The slug will perform at a much higher level than a pellet.

Good shooting.... We have found at that range 100Y with those targets, that a score is approx. 30 points higher than it would be for two EBR targets. So 475/500 equivalent to 445 or 222.5 EBR equivalent. Very nice score.

Didn't Greg Glover shoot a 489/500 with the Altaros 40 grain slugs from his BRK Ghost to win and set a range record? 489-475=? Greater than 2 I think... Unless we're talking about a different event, then my bad.

I do feel that the bigger events will be adding a Slug BR event at their competitions in the near future. Might be 100Y, or could be longer (150Y?, 200Y?) if the range supports it. We ran a 100Y BR Slug event at the Oregon EFT GP and EBR competition a month or so ago. Scores were considerably higher than the Pellet scores.

Yes, Greg did better me by 2 points when we both shot .22cal. Greg was shooting Lauren's NRL22/PRS BRK, tuned for the Altaros. Give Greg credit for shooting lights out this past Saturday - 489 out of 500 possible; way to shoot Greg! (Good guy as well)

I shot a .30cal Panthera for the first time, dropping an average of 6 points per bull. Found I was short on several issues with my setup. Future will be with a 1:32 twist. The 64gr slug was at about 123 fpe and seemed "too weak". More work to do so the .30cal will equal my .22cal performance.

See you at Rio soon.

Yes, that's very good shooting. I've shot around 480 before with pellets but haven't shot slugs yet at that event. Will try next time I'm out there with my .25 Panthera. I'm not sure I'll be at Rio until EBR, but I'll be at RMAC next week. That 100Y BR event looks like a World Championship with all the shooters from various countries attending. I'll be happy if I make the finals...
