I have seen advertised on eBay and You Tube the 2pc 3 D printed barrel band, It is basically a regular MROD band with a contoured spacer between the barrel a reservoir cylinder. The basic theory is it prevents excessive barrel vibration and improves accuracy. Has anyone on here have experience with a 2 piece barrel band for the MROD? And, what is your opinion?

I will defer to @BenjeneerJohn on this one!

You can test the theory by just shimming your standard barrel band and see what it does.

You can try it and see how it goes. Barrels move during the shot cycle. Holding the barrel tight might reduce some of the movement. This can improve accuracy, but it can also make it erratic.

Thx John, I might try that but that gun is so accurate I might just leave it alone. My natural instinct is to fix things that are not broken so I am going to try to control myself in this case.

Years ago I purchased a barrel band that looked much like the stock Marauder barrel band, except it was threaded with 3 holes, symmetrically around the shroud circumference area and included 3, plastic tipped set screws for each hole. The barrel band is installed just like the stock one and I tighten the set screws so they are just a few thousands of an inch from touching the shroud. The idea being not to hold the shroud snug, but rather keep it from moving if bumped, while still allowing it to naturally float. I did try locking the barrel in place with the set screws, but accuracy got worse.

I don’t remember who made these and haven’t seen them since. I suppose a person could easily drill and tap the stock barrel band in the same manner.

Thx for the tip. I have decided, for one time in my life, not to fix something that is not broken. The outlier is on me the other four are all MROD.
