Air Rifle Price Cap???

I draw a line in the sand at 2k.

Yeah, I have drawn similar lines in the sand.
And I have found that the SAND IS SHIFTING on me!! 😵‍💫

➊ My line in the sand was drawn at 150$ when I bought my first airgun.

➋ And the stick marked 500$ in the sand when I bought my first PCP.

➌ With a toe I marked 1200$ when I bought my first high end PCP.

➍ And I won't divulge any more numbers, as I might end up in the dog house.
(And we don't even have a dog house — so who knows where she might make me spend the night!! 😳)

I draw lines in the sand...
...but the sand is shifting on me. 🙄

🔺 Maybe...
...the guys I encounter on the forums...
...are all armed with shovels —
and are shoveling and shifting the sand as I search and decide on my next gun.....!
➠ You wicked brood of ENABLERS!! 😡

Matthias

PS: I am just as guilty to the charge of enabling. 😞
I had no right to throw the first stone..... 🤦🏻‍♂️
Sorry.

I bought a Feinwerkbau 300s in 1984 when it was still the top dog. In today’s dollars that would be a $2300 rifle and so I view everything in that context. I can afford a lot more now than I could back then. I bought my first PCP 2 years ago for around $280 and I thought the price was exorbitant. Little did I know what was in store for me. Do I think I’m spending too much on the rifles that I’ve bought, heck yes. But, I really have no expensive vices. The Panthera with the extra liner and the Bull Barrel hit $3000 and then I plonked a $1300 scope and rings on it. I’m not sure the scope was the big upgrade that I thought it was going to be. I’m already looking at other rifles. But, I’m also thinking it might be time to let some of them go. But, I have spent a huge portion of the last two years shooting my airguns and enjoyed almost every minute of it. Up to five years ago I had over 30 powder burners in my safe and at least 3 or 4 had never been fired. I never found the time. Being into cameras since I was a kid probably skews my view of what I’m willing to spend.

If you don't find your self using any particular air rifle, or if it doesn't have a place just bring yourself to let it go.

I got back into airguns as adult a decade ago. At that time spending $1000 was A LOT for me and I bought a Taipan Vet. The most expensive guns were the Impact and the Red Wolf in the $2000-2200 range. Now, almost 10 years later, top end guns are well into the $4500-5000 range.

I do own some nice guns but the prices are getting nuts.

Fair enough. I also don’t think there’s any other brand out there with as much aftermarket crap as FX.
This is something I was thinking when I typed my initial response. I don’t want to pay $2000 for an air rifle, then sink another $900 into it to getting it shooting how I want. Don’t piecemeal me to death. I’m not going for it. If it needs all of these things in it to perform, then build it that way in the first place. Not FX specific, but in general.

I don’t mind a top and i mean top end airgun getting to 2-2500 but it better shoot great and not give trouble for a couple years. What i really don’t get is that these companies ane now using the latest and greatest computer machines to make crap that can be made better in many instances on a 150 year old machine by a craftsman! They want lots more to give me less and them not paying top dollar for people to run the machines

Actually a King is over $2800,00

I owned a 30 cal King in a brown GRS stock. It is worth every penny. I sold It & now I regret selling it . It was that nice. I F I were to do it over , it would be MK 2 version in a woodstock

I am with you on this post. I would say Raw in a Woodstock, for simplicity, but it is hit or miss with the BARRELS. Read my post RAW Bad Barrel

I would rather have these 4 for the price of a king, I know they are not as refined
but if I can hit a varmint at 50 yards I am good and will like the variety. Plus when
I am walking through the woods I sometimes use the rifle to break through the thick brush.
And I can't picture myself doing that with a 3K King.

I would go with the Gaunet I don't Know much about the MA3, but it is surely appealing. so only thing to consider is reliability , & shot count tube vs bottle. For myself I don't mind tube.

I also shot one of these and was pleased with the results.

This one also made the list.
