JSB answer to all of this ? Getting in Walmart.
Instead of designing a better pellet to compete with AEA/JTS, JSB is trying to regain their lost market share by moving into Walmart (and likely other 'big box stores').

Welcome to the world of business in 2026. This is why I pulled the plug and took a low stress job.
I am sure there was discussion about how to make more profit. There were plenty of Predators (see what I did there) wanting to buy more than they could supply. Walmart, Amazon, and other large retailers will make you rich on the short term.
Rant over. Just glad not to be involved in any of that anymore. Just hope they use the profit to improve the product as well.

Check your Walmart, they only started stocking some JSB in most Walmarts in the last two weeks or so.

I am going stop by Walmart today and buy some. Right now JSB are not my favorite pellets in all cases. But, I think of it this way:
1. It is a good thing for Big Box stores to stock several different brands. Its's very convenient to get some from a local source when you run out. Even if it is just a tin or two until you can order from your favorite retailer.
2. The retail industry operates on inventory turns. That's the number of times that you replace your product each year. Walmart operates on 9 turns per year. But, for sporting goods their expected turns is 3-5. That means if they put a 100 tins of pellets in a store, they expect to sell 75 to 125 tins within 3 months. If they sell a lot less the product will probably be replaced with something more lucrative. If they sell more, they are more likely to keep or even add to that product line. Simply put, if we support their decision to stock JSB with purchases, they may actually bring more similar products into their stores. That has to be good for the airgun community. If the tins of JSB pellets languish on their shelves, they won't be there long.
3. Unlike a lot of businesses there are not many airgun stores affected by a Walmart competing with them.

How much difference in accuracy do small deviations in pellet weight make at distances you shoot? There is some discussion going on in another forum about this. I am talking about .25 and .30 pellets, not slugs. I would really appreciate your input.

As distance increases the differences increase. Even at closer range it matters because of the difference in velocity at the muzzle not just the difference that causes down range. Its 1 of the easiest ways to improve accuracy. Try it yourself take 20-30 of your favorite pellets weigh then to 1/10 gr and shoot over crono and at 50 yds then take 20-30 pellets straight from the tin and crono them while shooting 50 yds the pellets you weight sorted will have a better sd and most likely score better at 50

I’ve weighed and sorted a bunch of pellets. Unless your rifle consistently shoots the “exact” same SD, that’s not going to tell you a lot. I don’t have a rifle that will shoot the same SD every time and without that consistency it’s not really a benchmark. I’m not saying that If your weighing pellets from a manufacturer that doesn’t have exacting tolerances, that’s it would not make a difference. But, my experience with AEA is that their weight tolerances is sufficient out of the tin. I’m thinking head size tolerance is more critical. But, I’m not sure. Those flyers are more likely caused by deformations in the pellets. But, it’s just an opinion. Most of us are not using scales that actually have the accuracy stated by the manufacturers.
