Well, this year's Pyramid Air Cup has come and gone. I had an amazing time, saw some folks I look forward to seeing each year, and met some new folks who I talk to here on this forum as well.
Benchrest card one, not my day. I shot a 210, and that was just not going to cut it. I made some poor wind calls and got caught. Card 2 went better, dropping in a 222, but still not enough as the card before was low. I missed the finals.
Gunslinger: I shot a Skout semi after only having 3 weeks with it to prepare for the event. I made it through the first few rounds without any issues. In the quarter-finals against PJ from Sabertactical, I was 2 full lanes ahead of him with only two targets to drop at 55 yards, and the 18 gr pellets just fell apart, giving him time to blast by for the win, knocking me out of a chance at the podium, and I landed somewhere in the 6th place area. Next season, mark my words, I'm taking that number one spot.
This was the first year my wife and our children were able to come to an event with me, which was, for me, the highlight of this event. They will all be joining me next year and also shooting themselves; I can't wait.
I spent some time over at the Airforce/Raw booth, shooting all the amazing toys they offer. That new Brushgun 457 is insane. Offhand at 35 yards, I put 3 rounds in a dime-size group. Even they themselves were blown away by the group.
Team Benjamin Airguns and the new Marauder G3 put on a show; with only a 25 caliber, they put up some big numbers. I was super impressed. The laminate stock they had was gorgeous. That rifle is running the world-renowned BSA cold hammer-forged barrel, making pinpoint accuracy. I pray they bring a 30 caliber to the market.
My fellow High Pressure Pneumatics homie, Jeremy, was able to capture a 3rd place finish in Gunslinger. I'm proud of him; he has worked hard to get that finish.
My brother from another mother, Warren Carter, aka Air Shootist, shot great in benchrest, making his like 6th finals appearance.
Overall, the event was a 10 out of 10. If you are on the fence about coming, don't be. Get some tickets and come on out.
