What'cha doing air gun related today?

Bill, I remember you talking about the rabbits in your backyard. I bet they are what’s on the menu, perhaps the neighbor’s dog as well.
very likely. The rabbits are out most nights. We were watching three the night before. I’m seeing animals run by so fast that I can’t tell what they are. I had something totally black the other night. Could’ve been a cat, but I’ve never seen a black cat around here.
I ran out of light tonight when I remembered that I needed to put the IMG_7948.webpTnC225R on something. Gotta love night vision, I threw it on the Panthera and sighted it in with no light. It’s so much fun watching the slugs fly to the target with the IR. I was going to sell the DNT, but it’s too much fun. There’s hurricane debris everywhere and I think its disturbed the wildlife patterns. I left the Panthera out locked and loaded. I covered it up. It’s shooting AEA 52.2gr slugs at 950fps/105fpe. I strongly recommend that you consider an FX at some point. It’s been over two weeks since I last shot the Panthera. I was shooting 50.5gr AEA pellets. I slapped the thermal on, adjusted nothing at all other than the scope. I shot 24 slugs with a rifle tuned for pellets using a 1:40 twist pellet barrel and got SD of 2 and a BC of .1. I will measure it tomorrow, but I’m pretty sure it is MOA or close.

Went out to try a coyote stand or two this evening. Was headed a few miles back behind our place so I took the 'buggy'.

I came SOOOO close to getting my first air rifle coyote of this Fall! I was setup in semi-open pines. I could see some openings to about 70yds but most ground all around me was full visibility to about 40yds. Long story short..., about 1-minute into playing some low volume rabbit, I saw movement about 30yds out coming through the grass! The coyote stopped and faced me exactly where I had the U2 .25 facing on the sticks! I had the reticle steady right between his eyes and just started to touch the trigger shoe when the coyote turned and went back the way he had come!!! I switched to pup-distress but no luck getting him back. DAMN that was close!

I've had this same scenario happen so many times it's getting ridiculous! I can't even tell ya how many times I've been within 1-second of putting a slug into a coyote's brain and they turn and get away! Such is the game when ya have to get coyotes in really close to kill with an air rifle. :)

I’ve kicked around buying an FX for a while, really not sure what. Like maybe an old one a Royale or something or a new DRS, I can’t make up my mind.

When I look at what Airguns I have, I realize there’s some that should be sold because I just don’t like shooting them anymore and that would help defray the cost of a high power .22

It seems to me that you really enjoy your Panthera, everything looks good and solid. I’m just not sure what or how long it’s gonna take for me to take the FX plunge.

My wife is already asking me what Airgun do I want next lol.

I’m really unhappy with how AOA has treated me and I hate to say it, but it makes me not want to use their exclusive products. I want a Mora, but as I told you, I was advised to wait. AAA is out only because of supply and demand. I’ve been thinking the same thing, I have two Pinty Busters and one hasn’t even been gassed up, the TalonP sits on the wall, the Beeman regulated underlever sits there, so does the Diana 48. Even the Ghost sits unused. The Sonoran gets some use, but it’s a lot of money sitting idle. I’m worried that I’m burning out LOL ( not really a joke). Reading other shooters adventures is contagious too. If I had a little more land and pests, it’d be a different story.

Pick another hobby for a bit to give yourself a break. Since you got the panthera you have had some real highs and lows. Me i found something to give me a break i got a 1/18 rock crawler and set up a course with real rocks to crawl on a 4x8 plywood. Used to love crawling but traveling to places that were good to crawl wore me down this is the perfect way for me to get back in but at home and inside for the winter.

I had an 1/10 Axial Wraith when I had the hobby stores. RC rock crawling can be a lot of fun.

@solo1’s advice is good. Having something else will help from burning out or so quick, I’ve seen it happen to other members. I still work, so Airgunning is really the only hobby I have time for right now.

I hate to hear that you had a bad experience with AOA.
I think we need one of those feedback threads here in the HAM Community, just like they have at that other forum. I get emails from AOA every time I purchase something asking me to do a Google review or share my experience in that thread.

I would do it here, but I don’t have any interest for the other options.

Thinking about letting go of my origin, BSA super meteor, airacuda and maybe…possibly the Contour.

Have you thought about planning a serious hunt/camping trip?

I’ve looked into going to Utah and checking out the BLM land.

My other hobby that is not airgun related is digital slot cars. I have one room that is a small racecourse. Headlights, taillights, brake lights all work. They are linked to the controller so you can have 4 of them running in the same lane independently of each other or push a button to change lanes and they are crazy fast. Digital lap counter keeps track of them can even have scheduled pit stops. All of the motors have been replaced with faster ones and better tires. Rainy day fun and when the kids come to visit.

Billm, may I ask what are the reasons of concern with the Mora? I am looking for a .22 capable of shooting the heavy slugs (40 grainers) and the Mora seemed to be a strong contender. It, the Dynamic block FX guns or a couple others that could but with slightly less ooomph.

I do not believe the coyote attacked the neighbor’s dog if that’s what you’re asking.
I really don’t know what he was doing. He only came out of the tree line by about 15’. He stood there staring at the back of my house directly in front of him 115yds away for around 10 minutes. Most Coyotes I’ve seen were constantly moving. He sniffed around a little, but mostly stood staring. He would’ve been an easy shot. He left no sign.

Thats very interesting and not typical behavior for a lone Coyote, right?
