Are you going to have classifieds or is it too much like herding cats?

I imagine it is tough to manage a classifieds section even if you're hands off but at the same time I know it's a very popular feature. I certainly saved a lot of money trading used gear with trusted sellers but sorting out the scammers has to be a perpetual headache.

Firstly I want to make sure the HAM Community is working perfectly and today is only our second day live!

As with all software projects, there's always going to be multiple versions and Classifieds may come in future. But - yes - policing them involves a TON of work and I need to be sure we can manage that in a professional and effective manner before going ahead.

Perhaps a non-commercial (individuals only) section with promo codes would be helpful and far easier to manage. A place where someone could alert people to places with their favorite pellets in stock or similar?

Classifieds is often the most viewed section of a forum and a nice resource for individuals. I understand the background difficulties there though. Until then, I need to familiarize myself with this fantastic layout!

I think classifieds would be a great addition once the forum is truly flowing, no need for it now, I think it my inhibit forum growth, then we'd only get the people here who want to purchase or sell versus converse within the community we are all real passionate about.

You can make Classifieds "at your own peril" with the caveat that everyone give feedback about transactions. This is how others do it in unmoderated marketplaces. The only way I can see you getting full moderation would be volunteers and even then you put your site at risk suggesting it is fully moderated. Study it.
