I see AOA is now carrying the new Evol .30 HPS Benchrest/PRS model

It looks really nice, but I’m tapped out right now. I wish I could add it to the stable. Interestingly, I was practicing next to a guy at the Air Cup with the Edgun version and I believe he may have put it away and shot something else for the event. It was the first time that I was able to see one up close. It was a beautiful rifle.

Sweet! I wonder what the difference between this one and the HPS variant sold by ED Gun West called the "American Air Arms HPS Raptor" other than the latter having a 23" barrel is?

they are HPS EVOLS so I would say just barrel length and what barrel not sure about this one but the ED Gun West is has a pellet barrel or at least the ones I looked at?

That link you posted shows a 1in45" twist rate. It's pretty safe to assume that this is a pellet gun too. The difference is probably the 25" vs. 23" barrel length and probably a color difference, just a guess, but I'd sure want to know if I was paying that kind of money.

I didnt even look at the specs on the barrel I assume it would be a pellet barrel as I wuld think that what most people want?

I am thinking the ( as I recall from information given to me ) ED Gun West American Air Arms HPS Raptor is also a pellet gun. I think the APEX is supposed to be the slug gun?
not a 100% sure if it was me I would be asking upfront what the barrel twist rate was and if the gun was made for slugs or pellets.

Defending on who's site you look.at (AoA versus Edgun), the 1.45 is the bull barrel diameter, or the twist rate. Someone has transposed a number somewhere. I'd lean more towards the Apex bull barrel being 1.45" and the twist rate being faster than 1:45

I do wonder why the HPS bench and the HPS Apex are, as advertized, capable of 180 ft/lb compared to the 90 max ft/lb for the 30 PRS Super light. Surely there is more to it than a few inches of barrel length.

Does the HPS platform have a different valve set up than the PRS?

Yeeeeeeesssss..... but what specificities lay within the easy to say but harder to define "internal HPS modifications"?

It seems reasonable that there would be a significant difference between two guns with such a big performance and price difference. What is that difference?

the original EVOLs dont have all the adjustments

It makes sense from a branding standpoint that there are differences between the EVOL and new HPS models. I'm interested in the mechanical differences that might explain the power differences. I might not have made that clear above so this post is just to tidy up and focus my question.

Pan, I thought that the new EVOL models are all externally adjustable. My vintage 2021 gun isn't, but the new ones are.

Sales desk at AoA replied to my email asking about this:
"The Evol HPS has the new balanced valve that produces more power.
Additionally it has a longer barrel, so together that is where the power
differences come from.

As for the weights the Benchrest is 13.85lbs the Prs is 13.5lbs and the
superlites are 6.95lbs. Hope this helps!"
