Taking out the Trash Pandas

about 1:00am my back camera alerted me of an animal.
Looked, it was a raccoon
Opened the window, clicked on the flashlight, his eyes lit up, I lit him up.
Couple shakes and dead.
15 or so minutes later Raccoon #2 shows up and investigates the dead raccoon.
Opened the window, clicked on the flashlight, his eyes lit up, I lit him up.
Few more shakes and a roll, but dead.
Maybe 30 minutes later raccoon #3 shows up, he is a bit more skittish.
Opened the window, clicked on the flashlight, his eyes start moving, I take what I think is a good shot.
He runs off, growling and shaking.

I have not seen more than 1 raccoon in a night in several years.

Yesssss! Wanna coon hat so bad. We have them here in Utah, they aren’t native so no season and no bag limits… but they pretty much only hang out in town (where I don’t live) and so I’ve only seen one total.

This guy showed up at my back porch, the night before last at 12:35 am. I’m not sure my Sonoran is enough. On a serious note, I usually sit on the porch in the dark between midnight and 3am waiting for the Armadillo or night plinking. I’m not doing that anymore. They show up out of nowhere and are on top of me, with no time to react. I also had a deer out there this morning.

I’m glad you’re not taking any chances, I wouldn’t either. I’m sure eventually you’ll get that armadillo.

I don’t know why but around my neck of the woods same thing, you won’t see any for 1-2 years and all of a sudden we’ll have 6-8 show up at the bait pile wtf?! This has happened 3 times in the last 7 years! It’s insane to see that many crawling over each other to get to the bait pile that it took me a few extra seconds to process what I was seeing.

Don't you live in Florida? Snakes, alligators, Florida Man, and iguanas are supposed to be the only thing showing up. LOL!

What’s really crazy is that Florida had its first statewide bear season in years. My county and the counties on either side were excluded. They said there weren’t enough bears. I hunted 5 months a year for 16 years and never saw a bear in the woods. Now, I see them every week. Too far north for iguanas lol.
