Hello, I have a HW97 on order. I also have a set of sportsmatch 2 pc mounts with a recoil pin laying around that I planned on using to attach the scope. It's been a bit since I shot a springer of this power, and I am wondering of the mounts are up to it. Thanks for any insight that you may have.

Should be , there good quality . do they come with a scope stop pin ? Anyway you'll know once you mount and shoot if any of it starts slipping ..

I totally missed that duaaa...

If these I'd have no issue using them.

I'd get a toque screwdriver in inch pounds like wheeler to set the caps and base

Though I just hand crank down on the base ..lol. , but caps are critical to get right and not over toque much ..

But for scope mounting a decent toque screwdriver is pretty handy and decent bits

I have the HW97KT .177 (FAC version) with Sportsmatch Rings and Hawke Scope. Absolutely brilliant setup - never a problem. I zero at 50yds and on still days, I get consistent groups of 7 pellets in 20mm at 50yds!

That's mint! I'd call that a bread and butter setup for sure. My LH TX200 is on its way (been waiting since summer) and I have sportsmatch medium mounts and a hawke airmax 4x12 patiently waiting for it to get here. I'd say that 1 piece mount may be excessive for the TX....now for my brother's Diana 350 magnum. As for the scope I bought it specifically for this gun (springer approved) and if there is problems Hawke will definitely hear about it!

You'll love your TX200 I'm sure!

I had one in .177 (FAC) and it was great but I ended up trading it in for my current HW97KT which I personally prefer - not sure why! But it really is a fantastic Springer. Indeed, yesterday I was checking my zero (50yds) in light drizzle, no wind, and shot 6 pellets in one 15mm group at 50yds using the Artillery Hold (on bean bags), Follow Through and good Trigger Technique. Can't beat that!

Not sure how much you know about Springers but I've found with both (AA and Weihrauchs) that the first 5-6 shots of a day are never consistent - so I fire them into the ground before shooting targets or pests. Then the rifle(s) seem to settle down to the kind of groups mentioned above (shots 7 onwards are exceptionally consistent).

I guess these high quality springers need to "warm" up each day? I've never quite put my finger on why the first group is inconsistent? Maybe it's to do with piston friction (?) or air pressure on the day (?) or...... ?

Any ideas?

Been a lot of water over the dam since this was written. Cancelled the order. Went with a tx200. Bought some other PCPs, and traded them in on the HW97K again. Should be working it out this week.

Old post but...I can 100% verify, yes my TX200 first few shots are off... Like clock work the first 2 or 3 shots will be an inch or 2 low @ 30Y. I always want to crank my elevation right away, but wait it out and up she goes.

Have found that BKL rings work very well if the sports match don’t hold up. But have only ever heard good things from those as well.

I ended up going with the TX200. The mounts have done well over the last two years.

I've had excellent success with Sportsmatch Rings. I have had them on my TX200 for over 5 years and on my HW97K for a couple of years. Enough said for me. Orv.

How’s the finish on the sports match rings? I don’t always like the matte of the bkl rings.

I have some really nice scope rings by an unknown brand. In a really nice Satin finish. I’ll try to post some pics Later.
