What'cha doing air gun related today?

Took the P-Rifle out for some late Halloween Tiny Target shooting. I wrapped buckeyes in toilet paper and hung them from 10-30 yards. Also actually dialed the Pinty scope in better than rough sighted so that I can hit what I shoot at even when it's small. Then some super slow motion video of shooting buckeyes, acorns, and pinecones. About 70-80 shots before I stopped to go fill her up and end for the day.

Man oh man, so true about the Yotes! We live rural, but this is the first year I've seen one trot through the property mid-morning and it saw me. I grabbed the 12 gauge already loaded w/ 00 buck and the only shot I had was 50 yds away, but it let out a yelp. The SG is cylinder bore, which means a fifty inch pattern at fifty yards and only nine bb's. I've since started reloading my own w/ #4 buck and 25 pellets. They are hell on the deer when they drop fawns and when they are quiet, usually means a mountain lion is around. Good luck with your hunting.

I was able to test a few pellets in the leshiy classic. Hades were #1 followed by FX and AA 25 gr.
I was doing it at approximately 15y. The hades were one single hole with 3 pellets.
The FX 34 grain weren’t too bad and will be good for plinking and pest control. That makes me happy since I have about 3000 of them in my shed that are 4 years old.

Kid woke up from his nap so I had to call it quits before trying my non-JSB lead.

Put about 100 downrange on the fill today. Worked some on keeping both eyes open while using the scope. Tried to cut an empty air freshener can, but couldn't get it to stay hanging so moved to general plinkage.

Pinty scope again proved why I need to replace it. Started out shooting low and right, so I adjusted scope back onto rough target for can cut. While trying to cut the can, my shots started hitting high and left... ended up back where I started for scope. Did spend some time dialing it in more than rough sight, and shot some more buckeyes. Tried to shoot acorn and acorn top, but couldn't see them in late afternoon shade against my wood backstop.

All in all, a satisfying session.

Worked the permission this weekend. Didn’t see the coyotes, I'm getting real frustrated with them… but I also smashed some doves with the barra so that was fun.

Oh yeah lots of signs. They get spotted regularly on trail cam and in person… they come at weird times 2:30am and 4:30pm on the same day for example.

It’s an old school pistol kind of day today. My childhood ‘80’s era rear cocking 1377 is still going strong. Lots and lots of pigeons, starlings and sparrows meet their untimely demise with that one.
I just wish my eyes were as good as they were back then. No red dots or scopes for me. I only shoot pistols with open iron sights.

I cleaned a trap out to reclaim the lead to add weight to my leshiy for bench evaluation. 30mm CF tube filled and hammer packed with old pellets. Most of the weight is at the rear. I packed the free space at the front with paper. Adds 1lb to the rifle.
I also found this gem in the trap from doing an almost point blank chronograph string.
And it still fits in a small case. The tube attaches with QD scope rings.

I pulled the scope off of the Barra 250 today so I could try some pellet selection with the Zelos BF I mount the Zulus digital on it. At only 20yds, I was shocked to see them land a full three inches to one side of the aim point. The elevation was almost the same. Something tells me I have bad rail alignment on one of the rifles as I didn't change anything on the scope. Group was decent and all I was expecting at this point. Both rails appear to be where they should be and the scope is snugged up to the pic rail just fine. Any thoughts as I am baffled at this point. My next step will be to pull the Donny Fl can off of it and try again. Nope, no diff.

Air rifles are a fickle thing, it could be a rail, or something completely different.
Just today i switched from the stock Leshiy baffle to a silent ordinance and the POI at 10m shifted 2” right and 1” high. Grouping size similar. Same optic same pellet.

Could just be a speed and twist combination of one of the rifles.

WOW, thank you for that. I called Pyramid to ask them and the guy thought I was crazy for expecting the POA to be even close at twenty yards. I guess he was correct from what you say. Thanks buddy. Just seems insane to me lol.

I’m not following, are you saying that you had a change in impact when changing the scope between rifles, without making any changes to the azimuth or elevation on the scope after moving it?

They are odd times but they do travel a lot so that may be the times they reach that location. What calls are you using and how? I will sometimes use a female long howl and run it for maybe 1 min just to see if I get a call back if I do play a rabbit in destress and may be another long howl and watch your sent and direction of the wind.

Bill, yes. I just wanted to test some groups w/o changing anything so I could remount it on the rifle it came off of. I figured at twenty yards I could get some results. Oddly enough, the Y axis was almost the same. I was just shocked that the X axis was three inches over @ 20yds.
