Alpha/Delta Wolf Barrel question

This one at Baker website looks similar to yours.

Isn't this barrel supposed to be further back than it is? My mags rattle and fall out.

Man your not having any luck with that gun!.....might be a sign🤔😬
Like @Solo1 said, it's just like your Ghost barrel setup i believe, unthread that grub screw and see what gives! Does the mag look ok? Are they same as the Ghosts? Try to swap em? There is a little ball lock i think in them too make sure that's there.

I'll check the grub screw tomorrow. I have the factory mag and the PRS single shot loader and both are loose fitting.I think the barrel isn't back far enough.

Took a look at my Ghost quickly and its as i figured....the barrel positioning for the factory mags operation isnt the only possible issue!? That little ball detent, that 'locks' the mag in place plays a part too. Now on my plastic Maple Custom 🍁 mags it clips around barrel and omits the ball detent. You'll notice 2 dimples in the action to fit the mag for LH or RH. Check if your mag is missing the ball or it is stuck....it should spring back if you push on it.

I pulled the barrel out and reseated the barrel and everything looks the same.I took a video of the mag in with the bolt closed, the bolt open and the single shot loader. The detent balls are in the mags. I tried the .22cal Delta Wolf mag in my .25cal Ghost and it clicks into place when inserted. Still has a little bit of play, but I think that's normal for these rifles.

To properly install the barrel, you need to remove the shroud, loosen the rear collar, insert the barrel fully, rotate it while looking through the grub screw hole to line it up, install and tighten the grub screw, line up the rear collar with a spacer ( I use a thicker business card - around 0.020" thick), tighten collar screws while spacer is in, and reinstall the shroud. Once you have done this, the barrel can be removed and reinstalled with just the full insertion and connector alignment being observed. You may need to have the barrel out to install the shroud if marks on the bottle are likely.
The reason I wrote all this is that the rear collar needs space to allow for frame expansion and if not spaced correctly , may keep the barrel from being fully inserted(which seems likely in your case).
IFFFF the barrel can't be fully inserted, even with the collar loose, it is machined improperly or a burr or damage may keep it from seating fully. That could be difficult to see but could be measured if you have a set of calipers. If the shoulder on the barrel allows proper insertion but tightening the grub screw pulls it back out, you COULD elongate the pocket a little with a Dremel.
The collar spacing seems most likely though...

Thanks. I tried that and it was the same. For the heck of it I measured the Ghost breach and the Delta Wolf breach. There is a difference.

Edit to add....the measurements are the breach only, not to the collar on the barrel.

Not the best set of calipers in the world, but they can't be too far off.

It's been 2 weeks since I emailed Daystate and the dealer and nothing but crickets. The dealer emailed me last week and said he would get back to me on Friday after he had heard from Daystate. One week later he has not contacted me so I assume the hold up is Daystate. Here's the warranty info from their website.

THREE YEAR WARRANTY

Daystate prides itself on delivering outstanding customer service and provides a three-year warranty with a full factory back up service on every new rifle. All you need to do is register your new Daystate air rifle on this page. The Daystate three-year warranty covers labour and faulty parts from the date of purchase (proof of purchase is required) and applies to the first purchase. The warranty on Alpha Wolf, Delta Wolf, Red Wolf can be transferred to subsequent owners by the new owner reregistering the rifle online within 7 days of the change of ownership. Once the warranty period has expired, we recommend you send your rifle to Daystate or an authorised agent to be serviced, which will be charged at current rates.

EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTY

Your warranty may not apply if a fault has occurred due to fair wear and tear or failure due to misuse or abuse or the fitting of non-standard or aftermarket parts such as aftermarket silencers, springs, and batteries. Water damage to wooden stocks is not covered. Daystate or its approved agents must carry out all maintenance and warranty work and the air rifle must be maintained and used as outlined in the official handbook. The use of ammunition not recommended in the handbook is not warrantied for accuracy purposes.

The small print

Daystate three year Warranty

  • Daystate guarantees that rifles are free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three years
  • The warranty is intended for the original purchaser. By registering online, the remaining warranty on some models* can be transferred to subsequent owners if they also register the air rifle within seven days of purchase . This should be supported with a dated receipt
  • The warranty commences on date of sale, shown on the sales receipt
  • The original receipt must be/have been provided for the purposes of a warranty claim
  • Rifles should be used as outlined in the Daystate official handbook supplied with the rifle. The correct handbook can viewed and downloaded here
  • Other than signs of intended use, rifles should not show any evidence of having been tampered with, or been abused in any way in a manner not in keeping with the purpose for which it was designed
  • The owner is responsible for returning the air rifle to Daystate (see below). The company reserves the right to charge return postage
  • This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect your legal rights in your own country or region
  • Warranty excludes additional losses and expenses direct or indirect
  • The warranty is subject to the laws of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In other regions, local laws apply and can be supplied by the local importing agent
Exclusions

  • Damage, whether accidental or due to misuse (including damage due to the use of accessories, such as telescopic sights, bolt-on accessories and rife cases etc., is excluded from the terms of the warranty. The warranty extends to official 0dB silencers, and does not cover accuracy issues caused by third party silencers.
  • Where an air rifle cannot effectively be repaired under a legitimate warranty claim, Daystate will provide a replacement rifle, not a refund
  • In the case of an obsolete air rifle model requiring replacement, a current alternative air rifle of at least equivalent specification and value will be substituted
  • The three year warranty is subject to the completion of the online registration without which warranty will revert to statutory limitations.

  • After receipt of a returned air rifle, Daystate will contact you within 48 hours (weekends and bank holidays excluded) and keep you informed of the status of your warranty claim
*Alpha Wolf, Delta Wolf, Red Wolf

In my email I requested 3 options to make it right. The correct parts to replace on the rifle to bring it to spec, a full refund or a replacement. The rifle is unusable for it's intended design and purpose in the state it is in so I do not think I'm being unreasonable.

If i were you i would call aoa direct by phone and explain your situation to them and ask what they would be willing to do as the importer of this rifle. Probably the best way to see what can be done. If they tell you the dealer is responsible then call him on the phone and tell him what aoa said at least then you will know where you stand.

I would say that this issue should be dealt with by your airgun dealer, who sold you the rifle (y) 🙃 :)

He bought it from our dealer up in Canada, AGS. They are either real busy or yeah dropping the ball here, big time. I have been emailing Travis back and forth about price on the Condor Slug gun, just want a price. it shouldn't take this long, hmm.
I'd give them a call tomorrow @Corvid_Hunter about your gun !

@Corvid_Hunter did you get a resolution to this?
I received an email last week after I inquired about my replacement. I was told I'm getting a new rifle from the factory. No ETA at the moment. I think the dealer only makes 1 main order per year (although that's just my guess) after the British Shooting Show (maybe IWA also) when all the new models have been revealed. I'm guessing March/April which is still a long way off.
