Others New Airforce rifles & what my plans for them are

I’m glad to see someone talking positive about Airforce air rifles especially the slug version. Seems folks bash them for their “outdated design”. I’m new to the pcp world been shooting rimfire for years. After endless amount of reading and studying I believe I’m going to start out with a condor. Seems like a platform I can learn on and work on. The Umarex Zelos seems like a good starter rifle also.
My first pcp air rifle was an Airforce Escape SS over 7 years ago. It taught me to be patient and shoot better being a single shot and taking my time. After sighting it in with a proper scope mounted you can hardly miss! Also the rifles only have about 4 to 6 orings to seal them up which is nice so leaks are rarely a problem. Barrel change between calibers takes maybe 5 minutes so piece of cake. Every time i picked mine up it was always sighted in and ready to go even after being roughed up and banged around in the house, woods, or vehicle. I traded it off for another rifle and now i really miss it! Quick tip, just barely snug the allen bolt holding on the forestock grip on the rifle. Otherwise your power wheel will get stuck in place and not turn for power adjustment, the aluminum frame flexes. Enjoy your new rifle!

You might still get a chance to get one. There is an aftermarket company testing replacement slug barrels for the Airforce guns now. If all goes well, they may be available in a few months. 1-16 or 1-18 for .22 1-20 for .25 and 1-26 for .30. All 3 grooves for reduced friction and no distortion. I believe they will be $250 from the scuttlebutt I am seeing. I plan on getting one of the .25s when they come out. You have to swap or provide your own barrel bushings.

I will be on that immediately. I'm guessing that Troy Hammer is involved. He has been prototyping 3 groove barrels for a while now.

I have spare parts like bushings off the 12" barrels I've replaced. Although that will be a fun job getting them aligned perfectly. I'll probably cut some tubing and make guides.

I'd love to do a .30 with my big a** plenum set up. I can get around 90FPE in .25 when I use the high pressure set up, my normal set up is around 55FPE.

I would also like a 24-inch .20 someday to cut the choke off and recrown for slugs and pellets but for now I ordered a .30 drop in unchoked TJ barrel conversion instead from Talon Tunes. Still needs finial machining so I have a little wait, but I have wanted one from the time I got my first Airforce gun so I will be very happy to have it, and I have a bunch of .30 ammo already from an old gun I had.

I keep getting happier with this .22 Condor slug barrel. Wish they had come out with them years ago. Got some NSA .223 36 grain slugs and sized them to .221 and they did great. I had heard and found that the Seneca Pellets in .22 are a bit oversized so tried them out. They fit perfectly. The 28 grain Senecas did just okay but the 32 grain Seneca pointed pellets did very well, and the NSA 36 grain slugs and the 32 grain Seneca pellets printed the same at 30 yards, so no scope adjustment needed swapping back and forth using them and these 2 are about the cheapest option. At 3000PSI I was shooting both of them around 980 FPS. That gives the option of pellets for smaller game and slugs for medium game. I really like being able to swap from pellets to slugs without needing to adjust the scope. I think my next project with this barrel will be to try powder coating then resizing my slugs in the next couple of months. Should also allow for the use of .219 diameter slugs and possibly some Monster pellets. I have read about it and watched videos, but I have never tried to powder coat anything. Should be fun once I get set up to try it.
