Day three in post #14

First day at the range with my new Zelos.
First PCP ever.
I only had time to shoot at 25yds, and fired a total of about 35 rounds. Started at about 3300 psi and shot down to 1900 psi. Average of 950 FPS For the 18.1 and 1000 for the 15.43 gr.
Shot 4 groups of five rounds each.
The Gamo pellets must be a smaller diameter, no felt resistant when closing the bolt.
Shooting off unsteady bags and my scope is mounted way to low. I had to smash my head down to see through the scope. Also the trigger has to much creep.
But even with these issues, the gun shot great and I love it.
I will rectify the issues soon and then go to 50yds.

Brings back memories from not that long ago. Sounds like you’ve identified a lot of changes you want to work on. That’s where the fun grows to satisfaction as you improve. When I bought the Zelos, I bought a respectable 10X scope thinking that I would be happy with it. That didn’t last long. As I ventured out past 50 yards, I couldn’t see the pellet holes as clearly as I wanted. Tried a cheap scope I wasn’t happy with that and now have 24X on the high end and suggest that should be a minimum. Sold the 10X at a great price (for the buyer) but it’s only money, right? Good shooting.

Great first workout for your new Zelos!

Love my .25 cal Zelos. Not the most powerful, but definitely fun.
Ok, I see a few upgrades.
So,
What bipod?
What trigger guard rail?
What barrel shroud?
What bottle adapter?
And lastly, why did you lower the scope rail?
I had to buy a high mount to be able to get head low enough to see through the scope.

The bipod is an el cheapo off of Amazon.
The trigger guard rail is my design. (Unapologetic promo heartlandairguns.com)

The barrel shroud setup is also my design. It has an air stripper on it that redirects some of the air blast back over the barrel, and vents to atmosphere next to the receiver. Not tested by anyone but me at this time.

The bottle adapter is from C88-Air because its a great product, and you can't beat the price.

I redesigned the upper rail so it has an mlok attachment point for accesories... and it looks cool. The reason I lowered it is because I've seen guys put a scope on the Zelos with a large enough bell they had to cut off part of the rail. By lowering the rail it allows for taller scope rings to bring it back to a comfortable height and have the clearance necessary for the bigger bell on certain scopes.

Well,
I remounted the scope in a CV Life cantilever mount. Much better. Scope is a Mueller 4.5-14x40 AO
Installed a mount and Bipod. Installed some baffles off fleabay.
Next, adjust trigger play and find a spot to drill the butt stock for a sling stud.
Oh ya, order more pellets!

Range day two, 50yds.
Had a bit of wind today so nothing great as far as groups. The JTS did the best and most consistent. The H&N Crow Magnums did bad.
They lost stability and started entering the target sidways. Also the H&N Beracudas look like some where loosing stability. I'm wondering if wind can cause this.
Anyway, I will be ordering several tins of the JTS and maybe some H&N slugs.

Did you get that Wraith moderator and have a chance to try it out yet? If you have a Tractor Supply near you, try picking up a tin of the Daisy PrecisionMax Hollow point pellets. They shoot very accurately out of my Zelos and are only $7.99/tin of 500.

Got the moderator but have not tried it yet.
Have only shot at the noisy rifle range so far.
I plan to go to my mother-in-laws this weekend to try the moderator.
My local TS shows 1 tin in stock, I'll go pick it up.
Thanks

Try again on a quieter day - wouldn’t think wind would have that much effect. Not noticeable on other pellets. Significant progress though!

Day Three:
I love this rifle, It just keeps getting better.
Nill wind today, so good range time.
Couple groups at 25yds. Then a couple at 50yds.
Bad part was no bipod, so hard to be steady on a bag. However, I still managed a couple of nice groups. Not sure whether to zero with the JTS Pellets or the H&N Slugs.

You are having a good time and making nice groups.
The pursuit is at least half the fun.
I am totally thrilled with my Zelos as well and am just champing at the bit to go shoot some iguanas in sunny Florida.
As near as i can tell most of the shots there are 25yds and under so I’m not pressing the longer distances so I can’t help you with that but the 18.1 JTS are what mine loves at about 1800psi.

Ok,
I got to ask.
Are you eating those iguanas?
Looks like a lot of meat on them.

I Have had bull frogs, snake and alligator, they are all tasty.
Have not had iguana, but I would definitely give it a try.
LOL! I have no desire to eat any lizard of any kind.
Shooting iguanas just seems like a wonderful way to shoot at something other than an artificial target.
I can point to such noble motives as, saving the eco system, or protecting infrastructure or whatever else I can come up with but it is really just a great way to satisfy my blood lust.
If y’all want to eat them… get down with yo bad self.
