Is the .22 cal 28” ghost barrel for pellets 1:17 or 1:30? I have a 28” 1:17 ordered. Should I be looking at a 1:30?

The 1:30 .22 won't shoot slugs to save its life, but should shoot heavy pellets well. The 1:17 should shoot pellets and slugs well but won't be quite as good for pellets as the 1:30, esp at speed. That is of course on paper, results vary..... The Ghost world record was standard with the 1:17 and as an 'upgrade' you could order instead the 1:30 (both 28") barrel. There were some angry people I recall thinking they were getting the 1:30 and got the fast twist instead.

I have one of the new barrels, and it was labeled as a slug barrel in 28-inch, 1:17.5 Twist, as per AOA, which is what I ordered. I am still getting dialed in on shooting slugs through it. AOA has suggested I shoot 40-grain slugs. I just got some in the mail. I will be shooting this weekend and can post the results after I've done some testing with several different weights. It did not like the lighter-weight slugs at all.
Pellets, I am shooting the JSB redesign 25.39 short skirt, and it shoots those very well.

Hey welcome to Ham, and Yes!! Please let us know how your new slug barrel shoots. Very interested! 😎 I'm really hoping it with shoot the 25gr JSB KO and H&N 33gr precision slugs weight ranges well.

Thank you, site looks like a good one!!
I went and shot the Ghost today with my 28inch Slug barrel, here is what I learned today:
I tried the FX 22 gr Hybrid Slugs again and only did 3 shots and they were all over the board.
Jumped up to some 33gr and they do better and were showing some promise those were shot at 165 bar and power wheel on 10 and was running at 876 FPS, just so you know the 165 bar came from the factory and I have no changed that yet.

Franco Custom 36gr Slug 165 bar power on Max running 899 FPS those shot very nice! would use them again.

Franco Custom 40 gr slugs bar 165 Power wheel on Max running 855.9 FPS and those shot really good! AOA recommended trying the 40gr slugs and they did not disappoint at all. shot them out to 163 yards and they tracked very well hitting bot a 5-steel and 3-inch steel!

I forgot to take pictures or the paper, but we have a mix of targets from 25 yards out to 163 yards.

40gr for the win today! Followed by the 36gr

The Franco slugs are the only thing I shoot out of my Barra 250z… really happy to see other people enjoying them as well.

Oh boy those 33grainers slowed her down real good, was hoping you'd get em 900ish + on that tune 😂. My .22 with the 600mm pellet barrel was set exactly at 165 bar as well. I ran it that way for a year but it's too much gas for anything but Mrds, so i am trying some lower settings currently. There is another hammer spring you can try as well to get more power outta it, and I know @Soren Drost has been playing around with some modified pellet probes....netted him some decent fps increases and that was on his .177! Thanks for the updates, were the 33grainers the new H&N precisions?👍

No, the 33gr were Franco Custom Slugs, I dial back the adjustment wheel to 10 and they were working good right there, I have the heavy spring in the gun right now, will be doing further testing and try and remember to take pictures next weekend! Have you tried Franco's Slugs? they are very nice slugs.

Do you have a link to the mfg or someone who sells them? I tried looking them up but got nothing but reviews or vids of guys shooting them

Oh also, what diameter slugs does it seem to like? I have been buying .22 slugs and multipacks as they come on sale over 2 years or so, have all .217 and .218 to run through in weights from 21 to 40! Might need a small tank😅

Franco's Slug is .217, the downside is they will not fit in the BRK mags as they are a tough long, I did mention this to him, they work great out of my PRS single shot feeder, I order some 38gr to see if they will fit in the mag, the 36gr do fit the mag just fine.

The cost of his slugs in .22 per 100:
33gr = $7.30
36gr = $7.92
40gr = $8.74

Plus Shipping of $10

Reasonable price and like I said, nice slugs.

Here is his email address: Jesfranco@yahoo.com

He is also on Airgun Nation.

You should order some and try them.
