Whoo hoo! Just received my new Ghost .22 HP! I’d like to clean the barrel, but the drinking straw and patch worm isn’t working. I took the barrel off, stopped, and decided since I’m new at this- I’d better ask more experienced people. I’d love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, do’s and don’t’s, and methods, thanks for sharing!

Is the problem that you can't push the patch down the barrel from the muzzle end? If so can you clean it from the breech end? Maybe other Ghost owners can help? I don't have one...

I am in complete shock that you don’t have one. Did you know it scored an unbelievable 98% HAM rating and it …, wait a sec, yes of course you already know this. I jest, but I do realize that it would be a bit unrealistic for someone to have every airgun. But thanks to that review, I began researching the Ghost and started saving my money for it. It’s amazing and I’m very grateful.

I would take the barrel out of the action takes one minute. Then push a brush with gunzilla on the bristles. Then move to a few patches with gunzilla on. Then push clean patches through until clean and white.

Rob
There is an air stripper and 2 spaces which are probably interfering with his patch. I find it easier to take the barrel off and push thru
Thank you for the info.

Unscrew the x2 small grub screws at the back of the shroud underneath x1 each side . Twist and pull and the shroud will come off clean as normal then apply silicon grease to the shroud o rings and reinstall . the x2 grub screw get one started the locate the other one before tightening….. then tighten them both just nip them up don’t go bonkers and then go have some fun 👍🏻

Use an “industrial heat-shrink tubing” to straighten your pull through cable and it will pass through the air stripper easily

My first cleaning on both of my ghosts (22 and 30) was to pull the barrel...Take the shroud off and gunzilla first with a brass brush and some patches after...I then used a few patches of JB bore paste pushing it all the way threw, not "scrubing" back and forth....then gunzilla and patches until clean.

Now all I have to do is use patches and gunzilla when I clean my barrels. A pull through does work and I keep one in my equipment bag, put pulling the barrel is so easy.

I have not had an issues with O rings at all....I do change my breech seal when I first cleaned it with the brass brush...You can buy it on Amazon of course, but my 10 ounce bottle has lasted almost a year with 2 of us shooting.

I own a .30 and not a .22 but I clean mine with a PatchWorm and straw. Initially I had difficulty finding the correct straw but the red milkshake straw from Arby’s is perfect for the .30. I would suggest removing the carbon shroud and trying several straw sizes until you find the right one. I find that once I insert mine through the end, then through the air stripper that I have to rotate the straw to lead it into the end of the barrel. Once you get a feel for it and actually can see what you are doing it is very easy to clean it with the barrel and shroud in place, using the PatchWorm system.

Thank you for your insight. You’re absolutely right, I tried several different straws. What a great idea to find out the correct straw size too. I’ll definitely try that, thanks!
I finally got to shoot my .22 Ghost today, for the first time! And good gosh, It was shooting JSB Heavy 18.13’s at 1084 fps on minimum! I gotta slow that down so I’ll read up on how to turn the reg down safely. Is that what you’d do?

Yep its probably up around 150 you have to take the bottle off and dry fire the gun till it has no air turn the reg knob clockwise about 1/2 turn and air back up start about 130 bar and check velocity and bump up if necessary to get to where you want to be
