The American Air Arms EVOL 30 Is Back And Better!

The American Air Arms EVOL 30 PCP air rifle is back and better than ever. It’s in stock now at Airguns of Arizona.

Many Hard Air Magazine readers will be interested to hear that this new EVOL 30 incorporates a “cut rifling” barrel manufactured by Sub-MOA. It’s all about accuracy!

The elegantly-fluted barrel is threaded into a massive lug in the breech block. A chamber insert system is used to ensure the best transition into the rifling.

The Picatinny rail atop the action has an inclination of 25 MOA, for ease of sighting in long-range shooting.

Power output is set at 80Ft/Lbs from the factory, with 35-40 consistent shots available from one fill of the 300cc titanium HPA tube. However up to 100 Ft/Lbs can be achieved if you want to tune the gun appropriately.

Note that this is a pellet gun, being designed to shoot diablos and not slugs.

Importantly, the American Air Arms EVOL 30 PCP air rifle is entirely manufactured in the USA. Every part. Most parts are manufactured in Arizona and the gun is assembled there too!

The buttstock and pistol grip are Mil-spec Magpul components.

The trigger is factory-set for a crisp release at 8 to 10 Oz. There’s also an ambidextrous safety accessibly from both sides of the action.

There’s now an externally-adjustable regulator. This can be adjusted using the screw in the front of the air tube (below). The hammer spring tension can be adjusted also to balance the output.

A forcing cone stripper fits onto to the muzzle to reduce turbulence and the report of the rifle. However, if “backyard friendliness” is a priority, AAA has produced a Moderator adapter with a 1/2 x 20 UNF thread to which a dedicated airgun silencer can be attached. See the photograph below.

Additional 9-shot rotary magazines are also available, if desired.

Tom says that going no shroud is "significantly" more accurate.

when I spoke with Tom and voiced my thoughts it was not that no shroud was better but that this barrel was better and there was no reason to tention the barrel and he did not feel placing a shroud over it for esthetics was somthing warranted.

we did disagree but as he also mentioned he does plan on production the tentioned barrel in the EVOL line as well. so thats a plus for most of us.

the looks of these guns for bench I dont see as much of an issue. and maybe since these are most likey geared to that end, is possably also why the moderator is not included?

only Tom or possably Rob can adress that?

I am choosing to try and keep my personal views somewhat removed from the conversation as it's not really appropriate. but instead just offer some insight I got from Tom and I do hope he will chime in and correct me if wrong.

@pfddi Congrats. If it were mine, I would have the barrel cerakoted in black or have the lower receiver cerakoted in silver/light gray to match the barrel. Again, if it were mine. I hope you don't think that we're digging on you. I look forward to your impressions on it after you've spent some time with it.

In the end , aesthetics aside we all know it is going to perform. A drastic change like this is not something Tom would do just for the hell of it.

I look at it like the body builder with no functional strength vs the powerlifter who looks like the average high school soccer athlete.... I know which one I'd rather be.

The bare barrel is ok with me. It’s just like my Anschutz rimfire. There are lots of powderburners like that. Maybe AAA will offer a black version as well.

Yeah, I seen it earlier today while shopping. And yes, it was right scarey. If I wasn't bald, it would given me a few greys for sure. I don't appreciate them any less though. Lord knows, I've got PB's that make these prices look tame by comparison.

Sounds like it will be super accurate and perfectly tuned as a pellet shooter... built like a tank for sure. Now about looks... it reminds me of a car that has been assembled with non matching primed body parts waiting to be final coated (BLACK!!) in a spray booth. It looks unfinished for sure in these pics. Anyone know the max fill pressure on it?

Now now. It looks like any other testicle (tactical) rifle out there like Impacts, Ghosts, Red Pandas ad infinitum. Like someone raided Ace hardware’s plumbing dept and built rifles. These are all one purpose tools that have no aesthetic appeal.

I noticed a couple people saying how heavy the barrel looks. Maybe I’m in the minority, but that looks tiny to me with that tapered look. I have been wanting the bull barrel version.

This tapered version is supposed to be the Hunter version, right?

I changed out scopes and added the moderator. Here it is on the scale. 11.3 pounds if you can't see the scale. It's raining here so I can't get it out to sight in the scope and start practicing for the next NRL22 match!



The black wasn't available when I got this one. And I lucked out and called AoA on another matter and just asked about the new EVOLS. I got the $2195 one day only special price, so I'm now counting my hatched chickens!

Hmm not sure how I missed that. Add a scope and you have a 10 pd rifle. Anyone recall what the original 18 in. shrouded barrel .30 with the same stock weighed.
