this goeas to crosman wanting to make cheap guns they can sale cheap and move lots of-em verse building a realy well made nice guns many of us have ask for.
crossman always made cheaper gun but when the they aquired Benjamin they had a nice product now over the year they cheaped the pump gun in that line up then discontenued and and replaced it with the typlical crosman good enough poluted with plastic gun thats only worth anything is you spend a fortune on upgrades.
it okay but its no Benjamin.

they have the benjamin name and a great modle to biuld on but they just introduce more entry leval gun that persanaly i and many have no interest in.

theres a old saying in manufacturing something cheap to fill the pipe line.
the pipe line in this case being all those big box stores. its not about a qaulity product but about the pocket.
i am sure they great people working for crosman love and care about what they do but they do what the boss says do.

Cheaper for them to make and better profits for the holding company shareholders...lol

You kinda got to remember it's not crosman anymore as a company it's whatever holding company it's under at any given time. .. brand name holds little weight today.

thats true with most compaiens any more. i am into pocket knifes and almost all have been bought up by the same holding company and they just sale cheap china junkie.

Hello I just joined this forum today. I am the one who first reported the "BURP" when bump buttstock over on AGN. I have since tried to see why it does it but only after installing a 116 oring in B-STALEY fashion did I get it to stop. It also decreased my fps to around 560 fps. I love to tinker with these air rifles as I have added side lever breech and barrel shroud to my .177 and .22 rifles. I hope they come up with a fix for the problem as I would like to keep my rifles.

Yes it was stock and I think they have the model number listed incorrectly as I received notice and both of mine are model #CPI22S & CPI77S. With everyone who bought one and posted they dont have the CLI model. The day I received them I aired them up and 1 slipped from hand at 3-4 inches off the floor and made a loud burp type noise. When I posted about it no one had experienced it but seems everyone who has tried to bump buttstock has the "BURP" of air. I do not even know if this is why they are being recalled.

Welcome aboard! My Icon shoots great and I really like it. I just got mine at Christmas 2023 and now this recall thing has come up. Nice job on that sidelever! Did you take it off of another rifle or machine it yourself? That's for sure the weak point on the rifle as sometimes it may not cycle a pellet if the bolt is not pulled all the way back when cocking. I don't think they will want us all sending these rifles back to them. Probably will give us credit to purchase another rifle from them is my guess. Take care and have a great week!

Thank you for the welcome. I used a breech from a BARRA 1100Z that I purchased from BARRA. The hammer in these rifles weighs 82 grams. I think it is too heavy. I do not have a lathe or I would turn it down to see if that will eliminate the issue. I also am trying different springs and lengths but have not found a correction yet.

Thanks for filling me in. My Barra 1100Z in 22 caliber is a great rifle that I enjoy shooting as well. I also like to work on my rifles and improve the accuracy to perform at their best. Have a great week man!

They reported there have been reports from BARRA oeners but I have found no articles. Can you try to bump your BARRA unloaded and uncocked to see if it does it ? If not I may have to purchase 1 to see what the difference is as it looks like all internals are the same as the ICON.

I got to kinda wonder how many made " adjustments" trying to do a forum tune job and ended up with a unsafe gun ?

I do not know but I took both of mine out of the box and aired them to 3000 psi and they both did it. I purchased a BEEMAN RAIDER in .25 that fills to 3500 psi and it also does the same thing. They are all built the same like the BARRA 1100Z rifles. Guess we have to wait for CROSMAN to tell us what it is all about since we are just speculating it is about the "BURP"

My understanding is that the Icon and the 1100z are actually manufactured by different companies. The Icon is by Snowpeak and the 1100z by Shanghai Airguns. Of course it's possible that both guns could use internal parts from the same sub-contractor.

I'll try it when I get home later tonight and let you know. I don't like doing this as I don't want to damage my scope or have to resight it in. But will do it for science! Lol

Spoke with Crosman today. Called 800 number on recall letter. Very nice gentleman who I have had many conversations with and he has helped me with parts for my other builds in the past. We spoke about the ICON and he could not or would not say why they were recalled. He did say they were being returned and no parts sent out to repair them. He said he did not know if they would be repaired or refunded but he did tell me to remove any mods (breech and shroud ) I had added to my rifles and he sent me 2 UPS return labels so I could return both rifles. Not looking like they are repairing them but has anyone else heard anything?
