Wyandot UFT 5/3 match report

First Ultimate Field Target weekend of the year at WCA, & it was a nasty one weather-wise. Mid-40s Saturday, breezy & damp; it sleeted on us while setting the practice range in the morning! Sunday was mostly sunny & dry, but the wind was brutal at 15-20mph sustained. Our saving grace(s) were that it was extremely consistent in direction/speed, and course layout- 5 lanes were mostly shielded from the wind by terrain, 6 were shielded enough to reduce it to small, manageable holdoffs. The other four offered little recompense. Lacked a few of the longer targets as well, since the field where they are typically placed had standing water.

Eight intrepid shooters walked the gauntlet anyway, two rimfire & six airgun. Airgun results & equipment as follows:

Rodger and you setup another challenging course for both .22 RF and AG’s, Big Thanks to the both of you On Sat. You had the Tika .22 running in top form and cleaned the course yet 1 more time(even got two bonus targets) Congrats! I hope to get my unit a bit more sorted for June, don’t want you to get too complacent

Alas, didn't clean it with the Tikka- missed a bunny shot on lane 4 (1" kz at 30 yards iirc). Then there's the two point deduction for shooting a target out of order- twice !!

Still kicking around the idea of a high bc slug shooter to compete against the rimfires. Just a lot of $$$ for a rifle that wouldn't see much use (like the Tikka, wouldn't shoot it in my backyard).

That U3 is aces... a little massaging of your dope card is all that stands between you & the crown.

Gotcha, you’d basically be competing against your Tikka or it’s clone, big ask, considering how finicky most AG’s are with Slugs?
