....with a .22 springer that accurately shoots 18gr domes at 675 fps? (thats 18 fpe)

I mean responsibly. Certainly squirrels, cottontail, etc. But animals like hare? Perhaps even raccoon sized animals?

I'm not springer experienced with anything larger than squirrel, so this is both a practical question and a bit of fun conjecture.

For all you people who hunt with such airguns, please fill me in on what can be done, what could be done, and what really shouldn't be tried.

Thanks all!

Not quite enough for raccoons. I took out a mangy coon last year with the S510 and barracuda hunter extremes (18gr as well) The gun is 32fpe and It was not ideal. Took a few shots, he was gone 30 seconds or so after the first shot....
I would suggest setting up 1/2 plywood, water jugs etc at usual pest distances and verify penetration for sure. Science!

Danman - bidybshots or head shots?
First shot in the neck, he went up higher in the tree, 2 body shots, he fell out. One to the dome and it was over. I recall watching an episode of Edgun Leishy on YT (pesting vids not for the faint of heart!!) and he broke out a beautiful HW in .22. Scopecam clearly showed the pellet bouncing of the squirrels dome. Did the job, but I'd want more speed. Not saying it wouldn't work, a well placed brain shot....

I used my brothers 350magnum for (fury) night time pest control @ 18-20fpe but it was in .177. Very different animal! 10.03gr @well over 900fps, very flat trajectory. Ice picking is the term some use.... I shot a few animals in the heart and they'd run full blast wondering what just happened and then drop flat 20 feet away. I do remember though, reading a guy's TX200 review in .22 and he had shot a whole mess of gophers with his, at respectable ranges so it's definitely doable! I like a bit of overkill (aka insurance), 30fpe is just wicked on starlings and english sparrows. DRT. Can't beat that!
Whenever in doubt I will break out the plinkables and test! Soup cans, water jugs, plywood from 1/4 to 3/4....you name it!
