It’s high Summer and what better than a new CO2 airgun? The Umarex Stormline full auto BB rifle is a new product that fills that need to a “T”!
In fact, the Stormline is a slightly unusual product in that it’s sold through Walmart only. You can buy it online and it’s also available in many of the company’s physical stores.
The Stormline is powered by two 12-Gram CO2 cartridges which are loaded back-to-back in the buttstock. Ammunition is standard .177 caliber steel BBs. Up to 400 rounds can be poured into the gun at one time. These are then shaken into a 25-round internal magazine for firing.
The manufacturer claims a very precise 2,020 rounds per minute cyclic rate for the Stormline with the “fun switch” set appropriately. There’s also a semi-auto position on the safety/fire selector for individual aimed shots.
Given that this is an Umarex product, I am going to suggest that it would best be fired using Umarex or Hornady steel BBs.
As Hard Air Magazine has revealed in the past, some BBs – primarily the Crosman-branded ones – have a slightly smaller diameter. This diameter difference is only about 10 Thou, but it can cause issues with feeding and jamming in some BB guns: particularly if they’re firing at about a Zillion rounds per minute, as the Stormline does.
Muzzle Velocity is claimed as being up to 430 FPS. However – as with all CO2-powered airguns, this may be higher or lower depending on the ambient temperature. CO2-powered airguns typically achieve a maximum velocity at a temperature somewhere between 85 and 90 degrees F.
In common with other CO2 airguns, the Muzzle Velocity falls in cold weather or with rapid fire. So use of the Full Auto mode will cause a reduction in velocity and impacts dropping down the target. But it’s worth it for the fun factor!!!
The Umarex Stormline full auto BB rifle is fitted with open sights. The rear sight is a peep and has elevation and windage adjustment capability.
Overall length just under 39 Inches. With an overall weight of 4 Lbs and a pull length (the distance from buttplate to trigger) of just under 13 Inches, the Stormline should be ideal for most members of the family to use when engaging those feral soda cans in the backyard.
There’s a realistic, functioning charging handle too. Plus plenty of grippy checkering on the stock. But – as with many airguns aimed at the backyard shooter – you’ll need to be aware of the stout trigger pull.
The price is $132.00 when purchased online through walmart.com. Local store prices may vary. Enjoy!
