Spring/Piston The story of Norma Jean, my Blonde TX200

So I came home after the shoot, cleaned the barrel and re-lubed (Lightly) the internals after cleaning all of them. The last time I had Norma Jean over a Chrono she was shooting about 780. Now it has been awhile since that Chrono check and this time she was shooting average 740.

Not sure if the spring has finally taken a set or if I "Jacked" something up inside. I rechecked my distances from 10-55 and a few of the hold overs have changed, but she was accurate.

So with new holdovers ready I will head to the Tuesday Crusty Critter shoot and see how we do.

Welllll, the stock screws were tight, put the guy behind the trigger wasn't....Not a good day at all, 30 out of 48....Mostly bad wind calls and about 1/4 way I started shooting high....Taking it out from the 74 degree car and it heating up in low 90's caused a shift.....I need to figure out when/why the shift happens.

Just go home and we did pretty good!!!!! Now this is the course set for Springers and Pistol so targets are from 10 yards to 35 yards.....We had a slight switching wind, but nothing to hold outside the KZ. If you got caught holding one side and the wind switched and you didn't catch it....Well you know it will be a miss.

I was on my way for my first clean sweep of 48, but on my 47th shot I missed. A 35 yard target. Joe (The person I was shooting with) we both started laughing....Hammered the last shot, but no perfect score for me......

Mighty good score! My (stock) TX has dumped 40ish fps as well off the top after a good 700plus pellets and 7 or 8 months shooting.....no loss of accuracy, possibly even better now, so I don't much care. Last winter she barely did 800fps with the 8.44gr.....let's hope it's spring set When brand new it was 880 with em, now she's happily slinging at 840ish.

740 FPS here shooting the QYS 9.4's.....It was 780 FPS...

Should be a great time. It's the first time Barbara (Boss Lady) and I have been to PAC.

Here's a photo on the sight in range early in the morning. OK it's a picture of me. sitting down on my bucket at the sight in range...Barb made fun of me because it probably is my first "Selfie" I have ever taken.

If I remember correctly there were 3 sight in ranges right next to each other.

Here's a photo of one of the very cool lanes at PAC. There were many more, like shooting through a tree and threading the needle between a row of trees....This one was through a tunnel of dark bushes and the sun hitting the 50-55 yard target.

Day 1 Yellow lane, was a 31 for Norma Jean and I. We were waaaaay behind the leader Greg S. who shot a 46. He was a few lanes in front of us and I kept seeing him hammering the targets in the wind. I was shooting with Paul M. (Who I learned was a National Champion himself) and he said he would introduce me to Greg. After the first day's match, I was introduced to Greg and he was 100% willing to answer any questions I had.

Norma Jean and I were in 2nd place after day 1 by 5 points. Paul M. was in 3rd.

Day 2 Blue lane. I was teamed up with Greg S. and Paul M. Two great guys to shoot with. Greg started off a little slow and I had him by a few points the first half of the course, then something happened to him and he started getting all 4's......I had some very good lanes, but wasn't able to keep up with Greg. Paul M. about 2/3 through had a major scope issue which costed him numerous points.


As you all know Greg S. took first by 18 points......this guy is a machine when he sits down on his bucket.

So Norma Jean once again, was the Bridesmaid and not the Bride But damn she is a good looking Bridesmaid

Thanks to Greg and Paul, both National Champions, for giving me pointers, and being great people to be teamed up with.

Norma Jean's FT days are over for now, but maybe "we" will she here again at EBR

EBR 13 is over. It was Noma Jean's and my 1 year anniversary.....wind was switchy with a lot of up and down drafts....and 25 bulls in 20 minutes is darn hard with a springer in the wind.

I used the cardboard on the backer for my sighter area. I did not want a pellet to fly onto a scoring bull by accident.

Well I didn't get a sighter to hit a bull by accident, but there were a few shots the wind would push the pellet up, down, left, right causing the pellet to hit other bulls

Well how did we do you might ask? Well Norma Jean is still a Bridesmaid.....We got the silver medal again.

1st pace Tony S. I took 2nd, but where was Tony T? This time he didn't make the top 5 so no 3 peep of the Tony's taking 1 through 3

Norman Jean has been quiet for awhile. I just took her all apart and re-lubed her and cleaned the barrel. Went out just now and worked with her a few. Took about 10-15 shots to get her sighted back in then I started to shoot some targets in the wind. We did OK, but if I am going to shoot her in the Sonoran Classic coming up in over a week, I better get my A$$ out there to practice.....

Sonoran Classic is this weekend. Norma Jean has been doing pretty good, but kneeling and standing are kicking my A$$.....I have a few more days to get some practice in, but we are feeling pretty good about bucket and sticks. I will be shooting against Tony T also......This year he is going down!!!!!!!

We will have a great time for sure. Friday is pistol, Nissan, will be there and Saturday/Sunday Norma Jean.

Well Norma Jean and I are ahead of my springer mentor Tony T. by 7 points. Wind was crazy at Rio and rumor is today is suppose to be worse. Looks like Tony T. and I will be partners today with the 2 highest scores in springer.

This is a tuff course!!!!! Garrett made this course a 35.89 Troyer without the wind calculated in.

It is set up like the Worlds with 25 lanes and 1 shot per target. A lot of the targets are long distance and the largest KZ is 1.5 inches.

Well Norma Jean was the Bride this weekend!!!!!! Tony T. had a bad day, but held onto the silver. I had a 26 the first day and a 24 the 2nd. Did I say the course was HARD!!!!! It was hard, and the wind on Sunday was even worse than Saturday.

Here is a photo of one of the lanes. The blue target is 55 yards out with a 1.5 inch KZ



That orange feather was dancing all day.....It never sat still.

What a great time spent with family and friends...

My Bride of almost 35 years took first in PCP Hunter Field Target and match high score.
