Yesterday I shared a video showcasing a thermal on the low end of what's available. Figured I'd share a video that shows what a high end unit with all the bells and whistles is capable of. This is a true professional unit that has a huge sensor that's capable of clearly seeing close to 1900 yards. Those looking towards a serious unit for hunting, this is pretty much it.

Over the past year I've spent hundreds of hours behind NV and thermals so I plan to produce a video that breaks down all types of units by price, performance along with pros and cons... just feeling out the interest and thinking about how to format the video.

Dana, thanks. That forthcoming video will be another "must watch " from you!

@MountainSportAirguns I’ve seen a video or two comparing units, but not from an airgunner. I think that would make yours unique. Using these units within airgun range would potentially help to better inform air gunners in order to make better purchasing decisions. It would be particularly helpful if you could point out which features that these units offer that don’t work well with airgun applications. Also which units are too much or too little scope for airgun hunting.

During the day imo any thermal is near worthless as everything is hot, including foliage. Even after dark it takes many hours for the environment to cool down enough to really differentiate a living creature from the environment, unless it's moving.Thicker foliage will hide a heat signature from even the most sensitive of thermals such as the Tu651, early hours of the morning when the environment has been cooled is probably a good time to achieve the best performance from a thermal. Typically a high quality unit will be able to pick up the thermal "glow" that can be seen around the object that's obstructing it. The problem with this is we cannot verify our target, only know that it's alive. Is it a pest bird, an owl, a hawk, rat, squirrel?

THAT, dear Dana, was one of the most helpful replies I have read in a long time.
Thank you!
It is not what I hoped to hear, but it's very helpful to know that I don't need to invest in expensive gear, at least not at the current level of this technology.

THANKS again! 😃
