Or,.... when is too little too much?
I'm lucky enough to have a few light but powerful springers like the Cometa 400, or my shockingly light BSA Meteor EVO GRT.
And they are excellent shooters. Despite the influence of recoil.
Oddly, the BSA is both lighter and more powerful yet seems to have a more pleasant firing cycle and less jump. I'll have to shoot them side by side to confirm that impression.
Obviously, heavy rifles and milder firing cycles are advantageous, but it seems that the landscape has changed somewhat concerning what "too light" means nowadays.
A 9lb FWB 300 making 6 fpe has a weight to power ratio of 1.5:1
A 7.5lb HW95 making 16 fpe has a ratio of .468:1
That 6.2lb BSA making up to 22 fpe has a ratio of .282:1
All three are extremely accurate.
Food for thought, no?
