RWS SuperField Ultra Heavy pellets are coming soon in .177 caliber. They have appeared now on the Pyramyd website and are the latest introduction from the famous German manufacturer RUAG Ammotec, GmbH.
However – as with the .22 caliber version – the naming takes things a little far. You see, the pellet weight is 9.7 Grains.
At a time when the weight of some .177 caliber pellets exceeds 16 Grains – that’s about 30% more than that of these Super Field Ultra Heavies – the “Ultra Heavy” name is rather wishful thinking.
.22 caliber SuperFields have been available since late 2024. In fact, Hard Air Magazine ran one of our comprehensive test reviews on them in February 2025. We rated them as a solid HAM Silver Award winner.
In our test review summary, we concluded that: “These pellets are well-priced. They also have a good Ballistic Coefficient, which makes them ideal for longer-range hunting. Deep penetration in the target is another feature that we see in this test review.
The very consistent head size provides the expectation of accuracy. So, if your air rifle’s barrel ‘likes’ them, these pellets could be a good choice if you shoot a PCP.”
We would expect similar results from the .177 caliber version.
RWS SuperField Ultra Heavy .177 caliber pellets pellets are part of the company’s “Field Line”. They are designed primarily for hunting and use in the more powerful PCP air rifles which are becoming ever more popular.

By comparing RWS claims to rigorous, independent HAM testing, we concluded that the company’s marketing claims for their various Lines are justified. The facts really do match the marketing in this case.
