I've got a rock squirrel that showed up around my house. I figured I'd just grab my Sheridan and pop it when ever I got a shot. Dang thing leaked down before I could get a shot. Brought the Dan in and grabbed my impact. Did a bunch of trapezing around to the west of my fenced yard. I'd spot it and try to get lined up but it always scampered off before I could get a good shot.🤬🤬 I don't really want to kill it but I don't want my house or vehicles damaged either I have 40 aecers of property so lots of wildlife.

I’m envious, 40 acres would be a lot of fun.

I had the same issues but with chipmunks in my sheds. I sat with my field target setup in a spot with clear shooting lanes. I sat for about an hour and took 6 with my Marauder Gen3. Shot them from 17-25 yards.

Yip just had a chipmunk set up camp here last week, kids/wife have seen it multiple times so far. Minimal chance I'll get a shot off on it, may just set out a trap for it, well see tomorrow....I always have one of my airguns at the ready on Saturdays for pests!
The damage they can do is real and my shop is all torn apart currently so he could very well be living in there😮‍💨

I once had a nice home in St.George Utah that was bordered on one side by a 20 acre homestead, and the other side had a pathway down to the Santa Clara river, but unseen in my backyard due to a tall stucco privacy wall.
The subdivision had built around the old couples place on 3 sides.

I had a lower stucco wall between my place and their acreage, maybe 5 feet high.
The old folks had a big garden right next to my place and I could see rock squirrels going through the garden.
I was talking with him and he said the squirrels were doing a lot of damage.
As leaning over the fence and shooting them wasn't aiming towards their house, they were eager for me to thin the population.

Every summer I would whack 2-3 dozen big Rock squirrels.
I used an Air Force Condor SS in .20 caliber.
It was short, dime size accurate at the distances I was shooting, and very quiet.
It had a big Co2 tank that I had filled at a paintball shop for $2.75, and that tank would give me hundreds of shots.
The 14.3 grain .20 pellets were getting 625 fps.

Every squirrel a head shot, barely a twitch after. I have a few graphic photos of head shot rock squirrels laying across a big rock.
The big rocks were put on either side of the Santa Clara river to minimize flood damage, and the squirrels loved the rocks and the neighbor's garden.

The squirrels kept coming year after year, I'd shoot several a week and more would come to take their place.
The neighbor's kept me supplied with tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc. and were happy the squirrels were reduced considerably.

I would keep the gun on top of the stucco wall, half looking through the scope and half scouting for movement with the other eye.
When one appeared it was only because I had stayed still.
Yes, seeing one, grabbing a gun and trying to get a shot, they are not that easy.
You have to wait and ambush them.

I guess we'd be bushwackers then.
