Rochester Brooks Windy 60 results, April 18

Well, the first shoot of the season never ceases to amaze me, last year it was rain, this year wind. I arrived at 8am to set up the sight in range, and Greg and Pat Shirhall, and Karen Reis and Stephen Hottenrott were already there, and gave me a hand, which was much appreciated. People rolled in from 8 to 9 for sight in, it was good to see people I haven’t seen in 6 months. Temperature was 60 to start and 75 at 1pm finish. Winds at the start were probably 13 to 15 gradually increasing to a steady 20, with gusts to 30. Needless to say, I couldn’t keep my gun steady, and neither could anyone else, as reflected in the scores. The match director somehow put a 1/2 inch kill zone at 24 yds, thinking it wasn’t bad, until trying to shoot in a gale. We had Lucas Marasiak, and Lou Jimenez come in from Ohio, with Lucas shooting the high score of 42, nice to see our Ohio friends, and Karen and Stephen coming in from New Jersey, also nice to see. All in all it was a beautiful April day in Rush, NY, albeit with a bit of wind. Next month we will be shooting in the woods. Troyer was 32.1, not counting the wind.
