Pyramyd has announced its 2025 Top Air Rifles. This is a list of the ten best-selling air rifles sold by the company throughout last year. Thanks to the company for making this information available!
As always, Pyramyd’s year-end best-seller lists are a fascinating peek into the sales of the “World’s biggest airgun dealer”. When compared to previous years, they’re also a guide to the changes that are happening in the airgun industry. That’s why we have been tracking them with great interest every year in Hard Air Magazine since way back in 2015.
Plus – just like 2024 – five out of the top ten best-sellers are HAM Gold Award winners too!
First we’ll take a look at the list. Then we’ll move-on to discuss the trends Pyramyd’s data shows us about the online airgun market. That’s really interesting, too…
Pyramyd’s 2025 Top Air Rifles – The Top Three
The top-selling air rifle was the Umarex Notos. No surprise there! This is a great little air rifle and a HAM Gold Award winner.
In our 2023 HAM review, we concluded that “The Umarex Notos CRK is a bargain-priced PCP air rifle that offers outstanding performance. It’s also great fun to shoot… Umarex USA will have trouble keeping-up with demand for this great little air rifle!” Looks like we were right about that!

In second place was the Air Venturi Avenge-X. Specifically the “Tactical” version tested by HAM.
The HAM conclusion was: “Combining good power, a strong shot count, light weight, considerable customization capability and great accuracy, the Air Venturi Avenge-X is a close to irresistible product for the “enthusiast” air rifle shooter and tinkerer. Yet the test gun performed superbly straight out-of-the-box… It’s a clear HAM Gold Award winner!”

The Air Venturi Avenger appears in third place.
HAM concluded that “This Air Venturi Avenger review results in a well-earned HAM Gold Award… There’s no doubt that the Avenger is THE $300 PCP to buy if you’re an experienced, interested airgunner who loves to tinker. It offers a huge raft of benefits including – most importantly – the ability to easily change the regulator setting and thus the shooting characteristics of the gun.”
That summary is still valid today, in spite of the unavoidable price increases that have happened since we wrote the words in 2020.

Let’s look at the 2025 results, plus those from the two preceding years.

As we can see, Umarex took no less than four slots in the 2025 Top Ten. That’s an outstanding performance for the company!
Plus the Umarex Gauntlet placed fourth in 2025 and has appeared in Pyramyd’s Top Ten list every year since it was introduced in 2017. That makes it a clear long-term winner for the Arkansas-based company.
The Air Venturi Avenger has also been high in the list every year since it was introduced in 2021. It’s making a good play for long-term favorite status, too.
2025 Top Air Rifles – Market Trends
Let’s remind ourselves that the airgun market continues to be increasingly fractured between the airguns that are still being sold in big box retail stores and those from online specialist dealers like Pyramyd.
The .177 caliber, Zillion FPS, single shot break barrel air rifle still dominates in the big box retail world. However, if you walk-in to most any big box store, you’ll see that the number of air rifles they display is rapidly declining.
Scenes like this may, sadly, belong to the past…
But for Pyramyd’s online sales, the PCP reigns supreme! In 2025, seven out of the top 10 air rifles were PCPs.
True, the Umarex Synergis Elite underlever springer is a striking new entry at fifth place in this 2025 list. Otherwise only the Red Ryder and the Hatsan 95 remain to represent spring/piston guns.
And – for the second year running – no multi-pump pneumatics, or CO2-powered guns made the list. Is this the sunset for these traditional power plants?
2025 Top Air Rifles – The Long Perspective
Now let’s take a look back at Pyramyd’s lists of top-selling air rifles between 2015 and 2017.

So what do we see?
Well, in these years, products of what is now the Iconic Outdoor Group (Daisy, Gamo, Crosman, Benjamin and their sub-brands) dominated the list every year. They held five spots in 2015, six places in 2017 and four in 2017.
In the 2025, just one product appears in Pyramyd’s “top Ten” list: the Daisy Red Ryder at number six.
Ouch! that’s a massive decline in market share over the years for Iconic Outdoor Group brands, at the expense of – primarily – Umarex USA.
The other big change is – of course – in airgun technology. Back in 2015, just two PCPs made the list: the Benjamin Marauder and Air Force Condor. Both these brands have disappeared from the 2025 list, but now seven of the Top Ten are PCPs.
In 2015, spring/piston technology was still the most popular. Six springers were in the list. In 2025 it’s down to just three. That’s actually up from two in 2024.
A final observation is that, in my estimation, Pyramyd’s customers are spending more on their air rifles in 2025 than they did in 2015, even allowing for inflation.
Although I do not have the hard data for 2015 prices, it’s clear that – apart from the Marauder and Condor – most of guns were in the $100-200 price range. In 2025, $300-600 is more common: that’s clearly related to the increasing sales of PCPs.
