I am an older than dirt guy who recently fell in love with Hunter Field Target. I have a Gen 2 .177 synthetic with a LW barrel that I kinda like, and an AA TX200 that I dont seem to shoot very well. What can I do to my Mrod, or have done, that will maximize it for field target for me? I dont expect to be a Champion at my age, but I like watching the things fall down.... I'm at about the 60% level at my local club. I bought the gun from AR several years ago and haven't changed the tune: I'm using 10.5 Crosman Premiers at 16.97 ftpds. Here's my latest chrony data done this morning: 847, 855, 856, 849, 851 ....

How'm I doing? What should I do if anything?

I don't shoot HFT, but I do shoot those pellets out of a coup!e of different .177 platforms, and I can speak to that. I have found those pellets really do well at the 20fpe level. The extra speed would also help with minimizing your holdovers. Accuracy is the most important thing, but I would look for the accurate spot between 900-925fps, if I were doing it. It can't hurt to try and you might find some speed that works a lot better. Just as a sidenote, because I believe HFT is limited to 20fpe, I shoot these pellets out of a pcp at 950fps and they are still superbly accurate. Just saying, that you have a lot of room for experimenting.
