Others Offhand Springer Challenge - Anyone interested?

I spent 50 years plus pretty much only shooting both Airguns and firearms offhand and 99% only using iron sights except for hunting. I also enjoyed springers only except for a Co2 10/22 and Walther Nighthawk Co2 pistol. That all changed last year. Due to a couple of health issues I haven’t enjoyed offhand or springer shooting. I also used a rest and bipod for the first time. But, Danman and Scriv have gotten me thinking about trying to get in a few shots with my Diana 48 offhand. I figure a simple challenge might be in store. I’m thinking of drawing a paper target based upon the good ole British bell target. Keeping it simple with an 8 (traditional) or 10 shot string. Keep it at a convenient range, somewhere between 6-15 yards. I don’t see me chasing a 0.5mm 10 ring anymore. A 1/2” seems so much more reasonable nowadays lol. BB guns and PCP are ok too.

If nothing else it gave me a reason to break out he Diana and get some exercise. I shot ten shots off a front rest to get it kind of sighted in for ten yards.

First attempt at 10 yards. Offhand, Diana 48 .177, H&N Excite Econ II, 1000fps, stock open sights. Right to Left crosswind. Shooting from fist. Definitely harder than it looks. I’m sure the velocity is probably too high for this type of shooting.

Drop some 10.03jsbs in, that should slow her down! We did an offhand 10Y challenge on ham a year or 2 ago....great fun i used my hefty Tx200.

We had 76 today and so humid my target was wet after 20 minutes.

I printed out the target and planed to do it today…but it turned out to be a better day to deal with some pests .

Standing with iron sights. If someone wants to use a different sight, it’s for fun. Do what ya gotta do and write it on your target. I know some have to deal with snow etc. and shoot indoors, that’s fine just write down your range if it’s not 10 yards.

Well I received a brief break from mother nature. True to form I committed the cardinal sin of competition. I failed to properly prepare. Near the end of my first target I noticed a strange noise that I attributed to something making my hearing aids click. Nope, stock screws were loose. Anyway, after running up and down the stairs to get my fat old man heart rate up I tried another one. Not any better. Fun challenge, thanks.

probly better then I will do I am not sure I could hit the paper at 10 yards with my Diana LOL
