New Umarex Notos G2 Improvements

Yes it’s here! So let’s look at the Umarex Notos G2 improvements compared to the previous model.

But first – to be clear – the original Notos is a really tough act to follow. Starting in 2023, it single-handedly set the trend towards compact, light yet full-functioned PCP air rifles that people actually wanted to buy.

As I commented at the time “In many ways, it’s taking airguns back to their roots: low-priced, backyard friendly, short range, yet accurate fun guns.” The Notos is a HAM Gold Award winner and – as predicted – has sold in huge numbers.

Now there’s a new version – it was launched at the 2026 SHOT Show – and first signs are that it could be even better than the original!

The comparison photograph above shows the original model above the new Notos G2. Immediately you can see that the G2 is somewhat longer than the original. Fully collapsed, it’s about 33-inches long. (Note that I have both models fitted with Leapers UTG Super Slim Picatinny riser mounts that I find essential for use with either gun).

The barrel of the Notos G2 is 13.5 Inches long. The original was 11.75 Inches. The result is an increase in Muzzle Velocity.

Also obvious is the longer HPA tube. In fact the G2’s tube has a capacity of 118 cc. That’s close to double that of the original’s 66 cc. Umarex says it allows for more than 50 full-power shots on one fill at 825 FPS with a 11.9 Grain pellet (17.8 Ft/Lbs).

If both of these changes are likely to be regarded as improvements by most Notos enthusiasts, the next ones definitely will. Magazine capacity is doubled from 7 to 15 rounds and the cocking lever is easier – much easier – to operate! The old arrangement is shown above, the new one below.

We find more Umarex Notos G2 improvements at the front of the gun…

The original model had the pressure gauge mounted in the end of the HPA tube, which was filled using a fill probe. Both are features that I personally dislike. So I’m delighted to see that the G2 has a standard “Foster style” male quick disconnect in the end for filling, plus a side-mounted pressure gauge.

I have been banging-on about the potential dangers of end-mounted HPA pressure gauges for years, so I feel the new gauge location is a HUGE improvement. Thanks, Umarex!

Finally, the pistol grip of the G2 is a different shape to the original. Combined with the new sidelever, I’d rate this as yet another improvement on what was already a great little gun.

As with many compact cars, the Notos has grown with its new iteration. It’s grown bigger. Maybe it’s lost a little of the original model’s charm. But the Umarex Notos G2 improvements are undoubtedly worth it…

Approximately doubling both High Pressure Air and magazine capacity will be welcomed by buyers, together with the other features we’ve highlighted above.

The Umarex Notos G2 looks set to replicate the success of the original and maybe even exceed it. HAM will bring you a comprehensive test review in the near future.

This is the first hands-on review I've seen. Thanks for posting! The flat part of the moderator looks a little odd. I wonder what purpose it serves (if any)

Pretty much every difference I see incorporated into the Gen II was what I ended up doing to my Notos the last year and a half.
I could see the accuracy potential of this handy carbine, but like others could see room for improvement.

I bought the CRC plenum, my tank capacity now is closer to the Gen II, and velocity got a boost as well.
I'm shooting a 14.3 pellet at 850 fps. and an 18 gr. one at 830.
The CRC plenum also has a port on each side for a pressure gauge which I added.

I bought a couple Big Air 12 round magazines, never used the little factory mag and probably never will.
I saw that CARM has right loading mags for the Notos, as a lefty I plan on getting a few.

The web connecting the grip and top of the stock was ugly, as was the big clubfoot bottom of the pistol grip.
I slimmed down the grip and removed the connecting piece.

The cocking lever was a bit hard for me to get a fingertip in that little cut out on top, so I bolted on an aluminum knob (top half of a clevis pin). Much easier to get the lever started now.

Finally, I didnt like the big plastic moderator, so I cut it off and used the C88 adapter to 1/2 UNF, so I could use my Huggett Belita.
All you hear when shooting is the ping of the hammer.

For a scope it has a Japan made Sightron SII 2.5-7x with a double diamond shotgun reticle.
I changed the factory parallax of 75 yards down to 30 yards. The scope is so much sharper than the two AO scopes I had on hand, a Hawke Vantage 4x and a Bugbuster 3-12x.

The accuracy of these 11 inch barrel guns is great.
18 grain Barracudas and 15.8 grain JSBs go into the same hole at 25 yards if I do my part.
