Hi all!

Brand new to PCP guns as of signing up for this account (03/25/2024). Love shooting 22 LR and my Diana 54 Air King, so thinking this likely to fall in the middle and be pretty awesome as well! Just purchased my first PCP Airgun (first functional one anyway… long story). It’s a Airforce Condor SS. Can’t wait to get it and get shooting!

Welcome to the forum Trent! Glad to have you here. Those Condors are great shooters too. Lots of power!

@Trent A Welcome to the HAM community. What type of shooting do you enjoy? Which caliber is your Condor SS? How will you fill it with dry compressed air?
I’m mostly a target shooter, just competing with myself. I first purchased a hand pump… didn’t take long to find that wasn’t going to be feasible for me, lol. Purchased an electric pump from the GX line, don’t recall the name, but it’s the one that is hovering around $200 right now on Amazon. Already googling over the CS4 and CS5 (if I remember the serious right… ones about $330 and the other $500 if that tells you which ones in the GX line). Can’t justify them yet but we will see down the line :) On caliber, it’s a .25 which is new to me. I have always shot .22 previously. Still undecided if I want to also get a .22 barrel to swap out back and forth just because everything I have is in .22 for my pellet collection and what not, plus a little more economical. My RWS Diana Air King loves RWS Superpoints and the Crossman premium domed pellets. I was pretty disappointed neither of those two lines make a .25 option as they are my favorite to shoot and both very economical to boot. I have seen the Benjamin Domed in .25 which I believe should essentially be the same as the Crossman premium domed pellets so I’ll have to give those a go when I can find them in stock (currently sold out on Amazon).

@Trent A Sounds like decent airgun starter’s package. That Condor can produce some power. I don’t know what it takes to effectively swap caliber with one of those. Have you considered shooting any slugs out long range? If you’re just shooting for fun, working your way out further and further I’ve found to be really challenging. Within which distances are you currently comfortable shooting your PCP? Springers? Anyhow, good to read that you’re cutting your teeth with a decent PCP platform. As for pellets, I like FX branded pellets in .25 caliber. For slugs I prefer NSA and Griffin slugs and I’ve read good things about Altaros slugs. FX makes nice lightweight slugs (FX Hybrids) but they can be purchased cheaper from the company that actually manufactures them for FX. I think they call their slugs SLAP slugs. I’ll have to double check that for you if you’re interested.

Edit: here’s a link to the company that I’ve read manufacturers slug for FX

So if you gun shoots FX Hybrid slugs well, you may want to order larger quantities for a cheaper price from the source in the link above.

The barrel swap itself looks to be relatively painless, quick & easy, but worried about how much it will shift POI and the such if I go back and forth, and wondering if I would be better off just leaving one gun one caliber. I’d love to swap them around if it isn’t going to cause problems but never heard from anyone who has done it so I don’t know if it will or not.

The RWS 54 I shoot out to 100 yards. The PCP I have only got to shoot once so far at about 50 yards off hand at a post, lol, so not sure yet. I would love to try to stretch it out as far as it, and I, am capable of with practice! I’ve never tried slugs before but sounds like the logical next best step once I’m grouping up and get to know the gun with some cheaper rounds under my belt!

Even outside of slugs, I don’t think I’ve tried any of the brands mentioned before for pellet selection that I can recall anyway, so sounds like a lot to explore! Thank you for all the info, it is much appreciated!

Ha, found a couple pictures of groups with my favorite springer the RWS 54, and I’d say I better recall my earlier 100 yard account and say 75 yards is a more reasonable distance, lol.

Nice shooting especially with a springer. Bravo man!

Try some of these in that Condor. I’ve only had two 25’s, but both shot this pellet well.
