This is one brand that I have never owned but has always piqued my interest and been on my radar. I love the look of their wood stocked models but I am rough on wood stocks and they tend to get too many "character" bump marks inside my crowded safe so metal chassis' just hold up better (for me). Santa should soon be delivering a shiny new S510 XS Tactical in .22 and I look forward to getting to know it and compare how it stacks up against my others.

i use to only be interested in the wood furniture but as i looked at several things on guns i was interested in like the overall weight and avaliable accessorys it soon became obvious for me the modern Ar furniture was a better fit.
but i do love wood.

FedEx says it will be here tomorrow. I hope it’s a shooter? It was a toss up between this one and a Revere but my track record with Daystate hasn’t been very positive so I thought I’d try this brand for a change. Besides the tactical chassis is more in line with the rest of my rifles so it will blend in better.

From the videos I’ve seen the tactical is not blued but has a Ceracote “type” of finish to provide better protection in the elements. I do love the aesthetics of choice Walnut and blued guns but they just aren’t practical (for me).

Received it today and I am not a happy camper. Bought it as a NEW rifle but I am pretty darn sure it’s a returned, used or demo rifle that someone else was likely not too happy with it either. The brass air fill fitting has considerable wear marks on it. The brass fitting came with a Foster fitting installed on it with significant ball wear marks on it too. The barrel was filthy with lots of lead sparkles coming out on several patches. The accuracy is pitiful. No two pellets hit the same spot, indoors at 50 FEET and got worse as the distance increased outdoors. Tried JTS, JSB, AA and FX 18 and 16 pellets at high, #4 and #3 transfer port settings which made no difference in accuracy except a change in POI. @Shortcut can attest that I am not a novice target shooter.

Did you hear back from the dealer yet as to how they will handle this. That is a downer as you very seldom hear of accuracy issues out of an Air Arms S510. Hopefully they will take care of you!

The moderator has a LOT of fibers protruding inside the bore. Is this normal? I don’t see any signs of clipping but the amount of fuzzy stuff inside the moderator bore is puzzling?

The dealer did respond the following Monday. They offered to have the rifle returned for "inspection". They said the test target I emailed them looked to be OK to them. Perhaps we have different accuracy standards? After reading their fine print (post sale) they offer no accuracy guarantees and charge a minimum of 25% restocking fee on returned guns. Ouch, my bad for not reading the fine print pre sale.

I am going to put more lead down range over the Christmas holiday to see if the accuracy changes and hopefully improves.
