These are really cool guns and the first word I have heard of a possible release date on them. The 270Z in August and the 300Z in November is the plan. Yes, that's right guys, time to reach into them wallets again and let's see who is preordering again. :ROFLMAO: These are something I have been really looking forward to seeing come out but for me the weight is very important, and they might be a bit more than I want to carry around but that 270Z is a nice-looking gun.

When the 270z was first shown a few months back I contacted Barra with a suggestion. I suggested they should incorporate a faux bolt shroud behind the bolt handle to blend in that flat spot on the stock behind the rear of the bolt. I commented about that flat spot making the rifle look odd. I suggested that flat spot might make the difference in whether a person would buy the rifle, or not. Apparently they did not agree. Disappointing.

That flat spot where the bolt shroud normally resides on any bolt action rifle (firearm) should have been considered for cosmetic appearance on the 270z. Just my opinion.

This is the first mention of them that I have seen at the Barra web site.

The budget “DRS”… I wonder if it too will need a $200 LW barrel to shoot worth a flip, if so might as well buy an FX. Only time will tell.
"The budget "DRS"?" that is designed with a better 7075 reservoir that can fill to 250b. The premium (?) gun stuck with a 6061 tube (not premium), and a 230b fill. This still has me p.o.ed! The only reason to go with a DRS is easier barrel changes and a slew of aftermarket options. The 270, even adding the LW price, would be a better deal, if you are not already in the FX wheelhouse, and don't plan on changing anything after you setup the gun. And no, to me, it's not about the money either, just the guns.

You forgot support.

Why so many complaints, why did they feel the need to offer an LW barrel?
Because some of their barrels don’t shoot slugs well at all. But, FX has its share of disenchanted airgunners as well and that’s at double the cost. I’m starting to think you’re a phantom FX owner LOL. I’m not a fan boy of any of these brands. In my opinion with airgun manufacturers, price doesn’t seem to necessarily equate to good customer service. I will say that FX has been the most responsive of all of them. Back to the original topic: the LW barrel is an inexpensive and more “honest” upgrade than the new FX “solid barrel” for $400 - still a liner inside a steel tube instead of a carbon tube. Having said all of that, I’d still recommend that you consider an FX for your armory. But, I’d skip the DRS and go to an Dynamic/Panthera.

Exactly, they advertised that they shot slugs and pellets.

Post #7 250Z - Barra 250z .22 Choked Barrel?

I remember reading where you yourself (as should we all) have reasonable expectations that when a manufacturer advertises specifications (I and many others view a ”manufacturer claim” as the same) that they have an obligation to deliver on it.

Bill, honestly I’m at the point where I’m disenchanted with all of them, now I demand proof not empty promises and hype.

I’m with you on that. I have to admit I’m realizing that I may have to lower my expectations. I’m just saying the Barra seems to be a better rendition of the over the barrel air - for the money.
Now, which FX are you getting?

Okay everyone chill.

The issues with the barrels on the 250z were in .22 CAL ONLY! The gun does exactly as advertised and even more as it does more FPE than advertised.

Barra doesn’t manufacture the guns Snowpeak does. As a machinist I would bet a kidney that the factory had an issue with the line producing the .22 cal barrels. It was a consistent pattern and problem that constitutes a manufacturing error.

Since I work in an industry adjacent to this I can tell you these parts are run in batches and then ship. Snowpeak didn’t catch the issue so Barra basically got shipped a crap load of bad barrels in .22 cal.

Since Barra doesn’t manufacture them the did the best they could. They came here into the forums to talk to us. The took feedback and tried to resolve the issue. The fact that they went out of their way to do the LW barrels just shows how committed they are to finding solutions.

I’ve never seen an FX representative in any of the forums discussing the classic FX “wandering POI.”

I can also tell you that the 350z (the 9mm) has been delayed because they weren’t happy with some things and are making Snowpeak change them.

Honestly, even with the .22 cal barrel issues I won’t hesitate to get another Barra. I love my Karma EQ and Pj Clarke is amazing to deal with. But honestly Barra still seems more “with it” than what I’m seeing from other manufactures.

That being said… I think the DRS Tactical MKII looks rad AF and I honestly want one. But not in spite of a Barra.

I had two 250Z's in .25 with bad barrels. So it wasn't just .22
But I will say they took care of me and even refunded me for a barrel I purchased. Both guns are now doing the job I purchased them to do. If I can hit a golf ball at 60yrds with a slug, I can take care of the critters I need it to.

Barra is also sending me a replacement sear for the one that broke.

No one likes it when something they buy doesn't work as advertised or has a defect. What would make that worse would be if the company left you out in the cold and you had to spend even more money to fix the issue. So far, I haven't seen where Barra has done that to anyone and have stood behind the product. It may have took some time but that's the deal when you are importing.
