Now there’s a new FX Impact M4 and it’s coming soon. In fact, it’s coming in regular and “Compact” models and in a choice of black and copper finishes.
The Impact M4 takes the traditional Impact format and makes a number of changes, including – interestingly – a revision back to a single regulator from the two-regulator configuration of the M3.
Continued is the availability of four calibers – from .177 to .30 – together with the 3,625 PSI fill pressure. Another thing that’s continued is the approximately $2,000 entry price point. That’s the same as the original “Mark One” Impact when HAM reviewed it back in 2017.
Of course there have been many other changes to the Impact over the years, with different models retaining the essence of the original and increasing its great popularity among airgunners.
Power levels have increased, of course. The manufacturer’s Muzzle Energy specs are up to 35 Ft/Lbs in .177 caliber. In .22 cal, it’s 87 Ft/Lbs, 125 Ft/Lbs in .25 and 156 Ft/Lbs in .30 caliber.
Now these numbers are achieved when using the FX Slug Power Kit and 800mm barrel, together with heavy slugs. However they indicate the power potential that is available, even with standard configurations, in the M4 platform.
The FX Impact M4 comes with the company’s latest Smooth Twist X Superior barrel liner system. This provides users with the ability to purchase different liners with different rifling twist rates to match their own type of shooting and ammunition choices.
There’s also a complete new trigger system. This is said to allow completely different trigger characteristics (eg from a “hunting” to a “benchrest” setup) to be achieved rapidly and easily through the use of a single adjustment screw.
Another benefit for the M4 is a new rigid top plate and new scope rail system. The top plate is considerably thicker and stronger than it was on the M3. In addition to the 300 MOA compensation, it also has an 11mm dovetail that the longer Picatinny scope rail mounts on.
Fx explains that this allows the user to customize the rail’s position to get just the right eye relief for their scope or mount directly onto the 11mm dovetail as required.
