New 6 – 36 x 56 Scope From Aztec Optics

New 6 - 36 x 56 Scope From Aztec Optics

Precision Airgun Distribution (PAD) has announced a new 6 – 36 x 56 scope from Aztec Optics. This combines a 34mm tube with a DYND-2, MRAD reticle.

This first new model in the Diamond Series is the first new AZTEC scope for some years, but it looks as if it’s been worth waiting for!

As can be seen above, the etched-glass “Christmas Tree” reticle is complex, with multiple MRAD-denominated subtensions. It’s located in the First Focal Plane of the scope.

The low-profile elevation and windage turrets have 0.1 MRAD click values. They also incorporate re-settable zero-stop, lockable mechanisms.

The left-side turret controls parallax correction down to 10 Yards. There’s also an 11-level control for the illuminated reticle, with “off” positions between each for convenience in use.

PAD explains that this new 6 – 36 x 56 scope incorporates Japanese-manufactured Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass. This specialized optical glass drastically reduces chromatic aberration, thus producing sharper images with minimal color fringing and truer colors.

Compared to regular optical glass, ED glass produces clearer, more vivid, and detailed views. Just what you want in order to hit that hard-to-see target downrange.

The result is a riflescope with a Field of View that varied from 3.42 to 20.5 Feet at 100 Yards. The eye relief is 3.94 Inches.

Overall length is 14.6 Inches and weight 37.6 Ounces. The finish is an attractive ‘Oxidized Copper’ anodize. PAD says that this enables the scope to look good while remaining extremely durable.

Fully shockproof, fogproof, and waterproof, it comes complete with a sunshade, fitted box, and Limited Lifetime Warranty.

🔶 This scope looks like a good option for the long-range freaks among us —
who are fortunate enough to have a gun that is solely used for long range shooting.

I don't just "like" long range — I am fascinated by it. 🤩

But I try to support local airgunners who have no means of transportation to various shooting grounds — and this usually limits my opportunities for long-range....

So, most of my guns need to serve not just one shooting scenario — but several.
And that means, I'd need a wider field of view (FoV) at the bottom end....

🔸Therefore, my choices for long range scopes that also hunt close-up:
⭓3-24x or 4-32x, and 4-24x or 5-30x. 👍🏼
⭓Now a quality 3-27x would be awesome — but the price of S&B's 3-27x56 is far beyond "reasonable" — and sits smack in the middle of "raunchy"-sector 😵.
⭓And the 3-30x's that cheapo-chino brands have been offering lately are most likely a disappointment optically. (No, I can't explain why a 10-fold magnification range is so complicated to build well, and thus so expensive — but those who do (SH's glassoholic, ILya, etc.) have been teaching this.

The Aztec's FoV of 20.5ft at 6x is actually not bad for 6x! Many 6-24x scopes have quite a bit less at 6x!

Go ahead, Aztec, let's see what you got.
(And please, update your webpage with more complete/correct data on FoV and other details important to us airgunners. 👍🏼)
