I posted this on another forum and want to give it a shot here as well. I have looked and there is nothing super current so.... I have another Pinty Bullpup coming and need some glass for it. All I had around was just to much for it and around the house pest control. I say had because I sold the last one today.

With that I need a inexpensive, pretty clear, compact scope hopefully under 250 for everything (Scope. mount, ect.). I hate that I can not look through them before I buy, but that is todays world. I am going to depend on the community to steer me in the right direction.

Here are the requirements:
Clear as possible for the price point
Prefer no Christmas tree recitals
Would love focus under 10 yards
12x min magnification
30mm tube would be great (I have all the rings and mounts)

I am looking at:
UTG bugbuster 3-12 (Ebay for 228)
UTG 3-12X44 30mm Compact Scope, AO, 36-Color (156)
Athlon Argos BTR GEN2 6-24 (just big) (203)

There are so many other I don't know where to start and I am over ordering and returning. So help me out AGN what am i missing out there. Would love to order one that can be here this week.

Post #7, Matthias is off the charts 😉 with scope info.

@JungleShooter , don’t suppose you have any updates 🙂.

Yep have looked at the chart. Lots of information, prices are a little old, but good starting point. Nothing in there even close to my budget here. Also hoped to hear from people who own them.

So I have (2) a UTG 4-16x44 on my Sniper, my primary pest rig. I’m happy enough with it. The simple reticle makes target acquisition easier for me and I like the thick lines and mil dot. I’m usually at close range (to me that’s 50y and less) I don’t like the illumination function of the scope, so I rarely use it.

My Cricket and S510 have an Athlon Argos, definitely nicer glass than UTG and came with a sunshade. I like the scope a lot even purchased a spare (Black Friday). To me it’s a good value multipurpose scope.

My least favorite scope is Hawke due to their hair thin reticle.

I also have a DNT the one (my personal favorite but won’t work for you) and a Zulus.

I have a EP5 GII 7-35x56 on my XL that I love. Have a Viper and some other nice glass on powder guns all FFP. I have a bushnell Prime 3-12 on the first bullpup and it works. Just need better quality then that.

I do think using good scopes ruins cheaper ones. Like that bushnell 10 years ago I would have thought was serviceable. Now a 600 dollar DNT ot Arken raises the bar. Even Discovery Optics are really good at the higher end.

I will probably go UTG, I was hoping something like these Westhunters would be as good. Not a lot of people endorse anything but the nicer stuff.
