The new Macavity Arms MA1 PCP air rifle is coming soon. Pyramyd has them available for pre-order with an estimated delivery date of mid-November 2026.
But given that the Macavity MA2, MA3 and MA8 already exist, isn’t it strange that the MA1 is the fourth model to be announced?
Well actually not!
It was explained to me that Macavity models are being developed to a master naming plan. In fact, the MA1 is intended to be the lowest-cost model in the range, hence the “1”. The MA8 is the top model because Chinese culture recognizes “8” as a lucky number. (My wife is Chinese, so I know this for a fact).
My guess is that also tells us the company has long-term plans for MA4, 5, 6 and 7 models some day. That’s strategic planning for you…
Below, that’s me becoming acquainted with the MA8 at the 2026 Pyramyd Cup.
So back to the new Macavity Arms MA1 PCP air rifle.
Pyramyd is listing this at a sub-$300 price point. Actually $289.99. The MA1 is going to be available in .22 and .25 calibers. It combines a sidelever action with a 190cc tube High Pressure Air reservoir and built-in silencer.
The fill pressure is a handpump-friendly 3,240 PSI (224 bar).
Pyramyd confirms that the MA1 uses the same two-stage adjustable trigger as the MA2, along with a common CNC-machined Aluminum receiver. The MA2’s rotary magazines are compatible, too.
There’s a two-stage adjustable trigger, push-across manual safety and the hammer spring can be adjusted to accommodate power changes.
In .22 caliber, the Macavity Arms MA1 is specified for 50 shots per fill with a maximum Muzzle Energy of 27.3 Ft/Lbs. In .25 caliber, those figures are 30 shots and 42 Ft/Lbs.
The MA1 is un-regulated. Hey – it’s the entry model, remember? But there’s still Macavity’s three-year warranty coverage for security.
