Newbie here! I don't know if this has been discussed already but I recently got my first airgun an Air venturi Alpha
and have used JSB Hades 15.8g and Crossman Premier 14.3g. The JSB shoots well but the cheaper Crosman
is a tack driver at 20 yds. I'm not looking for long range with this .22 just for the little critters, but anybody getting same or different results?

It doesn't look like anybody has responded to your post. I can't really help you because the only Air Venturi rifle I have is the original Avenger in .22 cal. It's a nice little rifle but I have mine sighted in for 50 yards and seldom shoot anything closer. I'm not a hunter, only target shooting. My Avenger seems to prefer heavier pellets around 18.1g. Lighter pellets are more blown around by the wind at longer ranges. Good luck and enjoy your hobby! I'm warning you though it is addictive and the one rifle you have now will probably only be the first of several if you end up liking the sport.

All these Pcp's, and others, seem to each have their own preference as to what they like best. I have a Pinty bullpup, guess it would be a 1st gen., one of the short ones, and it and my Pinty Nightfall love the Crosman 14.3 hollow points, even at 40 yards, more, or at least as well as any of the more expensive pellets. My other .22's hate the Crosmans. My Akela .22 loves the 15 grain Hades, all the way to the 18 grain JSB's and JTS's. Same with my Niksan Elf-w. Hates the Crosman 14.3. Saying that though, never tried the heavier Crosman domed in them though. I like the heavies though, because I heavy pest, as well as hunt.

The CPHPs have been very very good in my lower power BRKs. They have killed many many pests out to 60+ yards. And I have shot some really great groups at 25, 30 and 40 yards. The only problem I have encountered is that when target shooting there will be unexplicable flyers. That said for general sub 50 yards pesting and plinking, simply sweet. When I want to get serious about “target shooting”. I reach for my stash of JSB pellets… I really like the Hades and they have become my go to pellet in my .22 Pathfinder for pests.

Hey, Bills comment reminded me, grab you up a load of Norma Heavy's! They are 17 grain in .22, but i would say excellent chance your Alpha will love them. And at 4 bucks and change per can on Pyramyds page, you dont want to miss these. All my .22s agree on them, even my low powered Crosman Prospect, and my Gamo arrow. They all love them....At least all mine do anyway. And they supposedly on clear out due to production ending.

Just an all around great pester/paper punching can cutter of a pellet. I gotta shut up. Or I will talk myself i to ordering another .50cal can full of these things.
I bought quite a few in both .177 and .22 and then gave my grandson the Crossman .177s that I had. I know - selfish lol. The I tried several JSBs, AEA and the Norma in the Alpha and the Norma in both weights shoot great. I can’t be bothered shooting the Buster and so I don’t know if it likes the Norma.

I didn't get any in the 177. I only have 2 of them. The Classic 1000 and the 2400? Crosman...does that sound right? Anyway I Never shoot them. Pellets are just too small for me to load. Eyes and hands just to bad anymore. My single shooters are only for the larger .22 and up calibers.

Not sure how I missed this post!😞😂
Jsb Hades for the win, but I'd use either pellet for 20Y pesting.
My airguns are fancy and prefer fancy pellets lol, both the springers & pcps.
If I had to use a hunting pellet at a competition, it would be the Hades in 15.89.
The .177 10gr versions are also good.
Skip on the .22 heavy ones though; only 150 pills in a tin, expansion is crap, and they dont keep up to reg Mrds for accuracy.
I only ever shot crosman pellets in my previous airgun life outta a crosman & Slavia break barrel. Good accuracy but now I know what i've been missing.
Effectiveness on pests is also undeniable, they shred feathur or fur, and shed speed quickly for safe backyard pesting.
I could almost be a salesman for Jsb😁
To be fair....it remains to be seen if my .177 HW50s will shoot the crosmans decently vs Jsb.

The Norma Heavies showed excellent consistency at a very fair price when HAM tested them on introduction:

They are definitely my favorites for plinking and smallish pests. All my .22s shoot them great. When PA had them on sale a while back I loaded up on them!

oooops didnt go to the bottom to post reply still learning
im getting good results from norma HEAVY-CPHP-and the haydes 15,89 at 37y
want to take them to 50y but it has been too wet to take the golfcart to put out targets without rutting the ground
hate it when the weather spoils the day
all 3 pellets are great for pesting at 37y -adverage group is about 3/8in with factory tune
trying to get a chrono so i can start tuning to tighten groups
