Yesterday I acquired my second Benjamin Akela, this one in 177. I have been wanting a .177 and didnāt want to break the bank upon entering the realm of teeny tiny FT. I found out a few weeks ago that they were discontinued. I really like my Akela .22, so I decided I would make the .177 version part of my collection.
I didnāt have it out of the box for 5 minutes and I had a Hawke optic on it. The Hawke came off my .22 Akela. So I through it on for no other reason than to make it look complete and to just have something to look through while I shot it for the first time.
Coming to me filled to 3000 psi, I loaded the magazine with the only pellets I had on hand, GAMO red tip 7.8 gr pieces. Attached my FX pocket chrony, added a new profile and out back we went. The three whitetails grazing in the back yard couldnāt have cared less during the 14 round shot string. For being straight out of the box, Iām pretty pleased with it.
The little Akela will be going to Airgun Revisions for a tune up to make her into what she is capable of. A fresh order of pellets on the way in varied weights and designs for testing after her upgrades. Most of the pellets are from H&N. I will pick up a ton of Benjaminās new precision pellets to try as well. I now have my FT rifle. No more trying to slow my .22ās down to get under that 20 ftlb threshlhold. This little .177 will be very easy to do that with.

Sad they plan to discontinue.... Is 3000psi the recommended fill pressure? Also what fpe range was the .22 putting out? I bet it'll get even more accurate with some heavier pellets! Enjoy!!
